Transformers Movie Toys Out in UK

Post by Hound » Sun May 27, 2007 4:20 pm

I was in Woolworths in Bristol today and saw the following:

Ratchet.
Blackout.

The voice changing Optimus Helmet.

Cyber Stompers Optimus and Bumblebee.

Fast Action Battlers Starscream and Optimus.

The Optimus truck that transforms into a toy gun.

I went back to get a Ratchet but he had been flogged :(

My dad found a pallet and a half of movie stuff at a Wal-Mart a few nights ago. They put them away because they still had too many Cybertron and Classics figures(*cough*Yay!*cough*). They'll come out sooner or later, so maybe they'll clearance Smokescreen and Menasor...

None of the big ones in Singapore yet, just the protoforms, Jazz, Bumblebee, Scorponok, this other one I can't remember (the white 'Con).

Just went out and bought $460 worth of movie Transformers.

But so sign of Megatron.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

I bought a Leader Class Optimus and 5 of the clear windowed version of DLX Bumblebee. I am hoping I sell them on ebay for enough to cover what I paid for Optimus.

And they're officially out in full force, just in time for the Great Singapore Sale. So we got the Battle Crashers, Fast Action Battlers, Ratchet, Ironhide, Blackout, Leader class OP, that smaller electronic OP, and TRU has a Blackout/Scorponok two-pack as an exclusive. No sign of Barricade for some reason.

EDIT: Sighted Barricade - at the rare toys weekend flea market I always go to. They're carrying lots of movie TFs as well, only these are US packaging with a little JP sticker in the corner for the regional release. For some reason the Fast Action Battlers are the only ones with actual JP packaging, which makes 'em look a bit more like the regular line from a distance.

EDIT+1: Japan release Leader class OP for US$49, good deal or no?

So I have picked up a few figures.

Deluxe Jazz looks really cool. Nice transformation that doesn't insult you with simplicity and the visor is a nice touch to his G1 Incarnation. 2 quibbles though.

1. His gun doesn't fold away anywhere. I just felt it was standard with TF figs these days to hide their guns away in vehicle mode.

2. He needs to lay off the KFC. He looks seriously fat.

Voyager Ironhide is lovely though. He feels nice and solid and looks great in both modes. Annoyingly his man-boobs restrict the movement of his arms. He also has 2 big guns (that disapear in vehicle mode) that combine into 1 huge gun. Mmmm girth and length...

Sadly his face looks like a cross between minge and liquorice.

I came across a load of other tat too.

The IDW 'Ark' book is out. It is supposedly a collection of restored art that the animators used for the g1 cartoon series. In reality they are black and white copies of the A-Z profile entries that formed part of the G1 comic, printed on toilet paper. The really nasty, rough toilet paper they always had at school that chafes...

The most interesting thing I saw was a range of clothing in French Connection. They had some really nice Optimus T-shirts featuring his movie design in bold black lines, with splashes of blue and red. V.cool!!!11one!

Prepare to see townies proudly wearing Transformers clothing whilst mugging old ladies and stealing penny sweets & beano comics....

Now as absolutely awesome as the statue is, I wouldn't have anywhere to put the damn thing even if I could afford it and had half a chance of getting one (there are what, 200 worldwide or something?).
