how the heck os that peg supposed to go in that hole?(trying to still figure out how to form him)(hes her imperial majesty reached a verdict? "i have." "guilty or innocent." "innocent feed him to the sharkicons)(ok ok buildking is suckiest gestault ever!!)

You have to insert the peg with the body at an angle, then turn it upright. Then the pegs directly behind BuildKing's neck are used to secure it.
Now about them knockoffs...

That padlock looks like it was based on an official model, from Takara's Microman or possibly Bandai's Gold Lightan line. The plane in the middle is most definitely knockoff, an original mold that came in a series with a tank and a car, in similar colors. If you think it looks crummy now, wait till you see the red-yellow version...

The orange dude on the left is from Takara's Brave series, a part of a gestalt called Build Tiger. The blue dude on the right - not sure, could possibly be from Tomy's transforming robot line. I've only ever seen the knockoffs for that one, it turns into a bird and combines with a dragon and these two creatures, one blue one yellow, to form a robot.

The only one I recognise is in the upper left corner. It's based on something from the Fighbird line of Takara's Brave series, should be orange instead, and combines with a red hot rod, a green drill tank, and a black semi truck to form a large robot. With bull horns and big ole guns on its back, but that's another story...

That grey-orange dude (second from right) looks a lot like the G1 Constructicon Hook.
