These are some of the nicest Transformers I've ever seen. They're exactly the kind of thing that will pull the "liked 'em as a kid" fans back into collecting.

Damn, ALL of 'em? Sweet! What does the first wave consist of?

Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee, Rodimus, Starscream and Astrotrain...
Darn, I'll have to wait until november for my preorders to arrive... At least by then Mirage and Grimmy will be out too.

I'm transforming these things and posing them. I'm actually happier now than I was before I started doing this. Do you know what this means?

I only picked up the Deluxe ones today. I thought Astrotrain was going to be my favorite according to all the Hasbro pics, but I really love Rodimus and Bumble. Not that the other are bad just they are so damn good. Just like the originals, I didn't need the instructions to transform them (RID anyone??). They even transform similar to the originals!!

I honestly thought Hasbro taking a break from working on TF's would be a huge mistake.
Having received Bumblebee and Hotrod in the post this morning I am happy to be wrong!
They are ******* great. Intuitive transformation, heaps of articulation, attention to detail and they just look....right!
Even my little brother said this morning upon seeing them - 'they look like the old ones, but newer'.
I cannot wait to pick up the rest of the series now. Although Prime and Megs still look a bit dump.

I was only planning on picking up one or two of the Classics, but...
Got Rodimus and Astrotrain first (gotta have one of each side, you know ), and I was seriously impressed with them, especially Rodimus. So then I picked up Bumblebee, and I'm thinking how sweet these are! No Force Ch.. er, Planet Keys, no -Masters, no gimmick other than transformation. Pure, undiluted transformation. Had to pick up Prime next, and other than no freakin' trailer (WTF Hasbro??), I was again blown away. By now I'm pretty much totally hooked; I got Megatron last night, and the love just keeps on comin'. I am definitely looking forward to wave 2...

I picked up Mirage and Grimlock two nights ago. I'm not one to discredit Hasbro's efforts, but I had some minor concerns about wave 2. Neither of these figures even closely transform anything like their original counterparts. I don't really care for Mirage. He looks way too fragile in robot mode. I also hate that his front chassy sticks out from the back of his neck. I think Mirage would have looked better using his original transformation based on the G1 toy. I guess even a ****** figure has to slip by Hasbro at least once in a while. On the other hand, Grimlock is awesome. The only problem I have with him though is I feel as though Grimlock's transformation turned upsidedown. The T-Rex's head becomes Grimlock's feet in robot mode. Grimlock doesn't even have his wings anymore. Classic's Grimlock is a great figure, but I think his figure would have been even better, if his transformation was closer in resembling the original. I know that I shouldn't be complaining because we all have been dreaming for a line based on the original classics. There is one thing I do not understand about wave 2. Why did Hasbro decide to recreate Grimlock's and Mirage's transformations and not base it from the original design. Wave 1's transformtion loosely resemble their G1 counterparts. Wave 2 doesn't even come close. You can't even really consider these figures classics. Energon's Grimlock is closer to resembling the original Grimlock than the classics version. I hope this isn't a sign of where the direction of this classics line is headed.

If you want a Mirage that is a revised version of the old transformation, there's RM Mirage... I have it, really nice toy. But the new one is also class, he's lean and looks built for speed, as he should.Ikijigoku wrote:I picked up Mirage and Grimlock two nights ago. Only have Megatron and Starscream for now. They're selling out quite fast, only Megatron and Astrotrain left in some places.
It's a pity about Megatron's gun form - I would have something more Desert Eagle for him - as it is, I could totally see them repainting him into Galvatron... but not without incident.
