Gallery of rare and unusual foreign Transformers varients

Post by shaxper » Mon Jun 12, 2006 2:22 pm

Hey guys,

Long time no see! I just wanted to let everyone know that I finally put up my gallery of foreign Transformers varients at Spacebridge2000. I've got photos and descriptions for the super rare 1.5x scale G1/G2 Optimus Prime, my Autobot Colored Menasor, my 1.5' tall Brave Fire Dagwon, etc. I hope to keep adding to this collection, but feel free to check out what's in the gallery thus far.

Hope you enjoy it!

Good to see you again, Besty!

Sorry I haven't been around much, but work has kept me from having idle time to hang out online. Fortunately, it's summer now :)

Legion, the company that made Onslaught did release the rest of the Combaticons, but they're very hard to track down. Eventually, I hope to have a full oversized Bruticus.

Yo Shax,

The unknown Transformer on this page looks like Blacker from gestalt Roadcaesar of Transformers Victory, remolded up the wazoo with the chestplate of Jet Icarus from Jetman, semi-early Super Sentai.

Indeed, but his transformation resembles the powermaster Joyride more closely.

Shaxper, those are really cool pics of these Knockoffs! I plan to do a huge site one day to collect pics of all the existing knockoff TFs on one place.

I myself have quite a Bootleg collection... just today I bought 2 toys from a 'Police' -combiner where there are six members, the central piece is remolded from Onslaught, there is a white police copter Vortex, and most curious of all, the other 4 are all based on Streetwise, but are upgraded - their waists can rotate and they look like modern day police cars.

But the funniest thing is - when you remove the back cover of the car, there is a down-sized small Bruticus head-mask (think combiner-head sized but very detailed) that you can put over the 'Streetwise'-car's face. Really funny... plus all toys have Swindle's guns. There were many more variants from this company, including a firefighter and a construction type gestalt.

I'd love to see photos of that one. Any chance of posting some?

Eventually, I should add a gallery for the silliest knock-offs I've ever seen. And those Asian boxes with the poor English translations -- priceless. My favorite to date is "Kill the devil with magic fire stick!" This was for a Bruticus set and, I believe, was referring to Onslaught's gun.

Thanks for the pics!

It's an awesome feature. If those had been higher quality bootlegs, I would have been on an international quest to locate some for myself in less time than it took me to write this sentence :). Judging from the cards, I think I know the company that makes those. They'll probably be showing up at Big Lots in the near future, so I might still pick them up anyway.

Thanks again for showing them off!

You're welcome! :)

there are actually three types of these combiners - there is a Firefighter and a Contsruction themed Gestalt group too. However I cannot tell how the gestalt looks, since they both have Defensor instructions on the backer cards, while the individual bots seems to be based on Mixmaster... Also all of them have Swindle guns, but as you can see, they cannot hold the guns...

Sadly there were only 1 variation from each gestalt group at the store. They are cheap though - 3$for each 2-pack. There are one-packs also, I dunno for how much. If you can't find them, I can pick up some - they have been in the Chinese market where I found them for months, no-one seems to be interested in them.

That huge Onslaught is cool. I too would like to see him combined with the rest as enormous Bruticus. I'm not crazy about any of the primes' color schemes. They all look like they're made out of cotton candy. And I like real PM Prime's fun trailer better than that boring flatbed. The Menasor would look better if they colored him like this: Motormaster-Prime, Dead End-Jazz, Breakdown-Sideswipe(ok they got that one), Dragstrip-Mirage, Wild Rider-Bluestreak or Sunstreaker. The Brave Fire Dagwon looks badass. Though, I don't know if I've ever even seen the original.

The full over-sized Bruticus is one of the new items I've acquired, actually. I'll be posting it soon (I hope).

And I love your idea for an Autobot Menasor. If this guy weren't so rare, I'd break out the model paint and make the changes myself :D

Did I dream this several years ago, or has there been mention that this (and oversize versions of the other Special Teams) can actually combine with Metroplex?

Something about the original molds were larger than the ones used in mass production at the time, so these oversized combiners could actually be based on the original specifications?

I'd heard that you could do that with the original scale combiners, but I've never tried it. Never heard anything about the original design being larger though.

Sure thing the original combiner limbs can combine with Metroplex - they attach to the knees and the shoulders. That's even pictured in his instructions. The oversized versions cannot, as far as I know.
