I have always wanted G1 Op. When I was little I asked for him for every birthday and xmas, until my Nan relented, and bought me......ultra magnus. I was so disapointed. And ever since i've wanted him, and on my last birthday my girlfriend bought me blue armada prime, thinking this was the one i wanted, but alas no. Although she did make it up at xmas when she bought me powermaster prime w/godbomber. Close but just no cigar!

The Diaclone Skybase. It's so rare that I've never even seen a good pic of it. It's shown up on ebay twice in the past 5 years, and gotten sniped by an outside buyer that got the seller to end the auction early both times. It came up on Yahoo Japan a few times, but for some serious frickin' cash. I just can't afford the thing enough to find out whether it's as awesome as it might be or as crappy as it probably is.
Here's the little info I DO have on Skybase:

Incidentally, my answer to this question used to be the Diaclone Great Robot Base, but I have it now A Diaclone Battle Convoy would be sweet, but my Type 1a Metal Plate trailer version is nearly as good.

Slag. Trypticon. Blaster.
But without a doubt, the fig I always wanted the I STILL haven't gotten is....
G1 Megatron. My parents didn't approve of him being a gun.

Most of the figures I really wanted have been reissued by now (Prowl, Jazz and Magnus, to name but a few). I've picked up a few others on eBay, so I guess I've pruned my childhood want list quite well in the last few years. I suppose the only guys left are Swoop, Sludge and Scorponok...although the Dinos were all pretty low on my list back then, so I guess Scorponok is the only one who really counts.

Lucky Draw Transformers. You know, the all Gold, Silver sometimes Black versions of popular Transformers? Each costing multiple hundreds if not thousands of USDs. Those Transformers that are produced that have 10-20 copies worldwide. I wouldn't mind having just one. Even better if I could win it. ;-) It would make a good centerpiece to my collection.

Yeah, I've always wanted the clear Optimus Prime, just cuz I've always thought it would be cool to own every variant of the G1 Prime cab. plus the clear trailer would be something to see!Backscatter wrote:Lucky Draw Transformers. Fred's workshop has such a collection, but the focus is primarily on variants, not repaints. He has most, but not all of them. No Lucky Draw Prime, the last time I looked.Autobloke wrote:Get the huge Supreme GF Starscream, Darth. He kicks ass!
shaxper, wasn't there a website of some bloke who had loads of different versions of Prime? Wasn't it linked here somewhere?
It reminds me a bit of this other line of toys called air raiders. Also a little like starcom. Do you think they remolded diaclone for those other two toy linesshaxper wrote:The Diaclone Skybase. You know, I've actually spent a great deal of time thinking about that. I think the coincidences between Starscom and early Diaclone are too many to ignore. Both had drivers with magnetic feet. Both had vehicles that converted from one form to another with a spring-activated motor. I haven't been able to find any proof that Starcom had any relationship with Takara, but Takara did bring those items to America in 1984 as part of Kronoform. Starcom was only two years later, I believe.wideload wrote: It reminds me a bit of this other line of toys called air raiders. Also a little like starcom. As for Airraiders, I'm not familiar enough with the series. I've been meaning to learn more about it. Same time period though, so a connection is definitely possible.
Air raiders was one of my favorite toy lines of the time. I loved the minature (diaclone sized) figures they came with. They seem very similar to diaclone, but with more intricate molding. I've never actually touched a diaclone figure in person, but it seems like the figures for air raiders may have just been remolds. Also the fact the playsets could shoot misiles with the air pumps was pretty awesome.shaxper wrote:You know, I've actually spent a great deal of time thinking about that. I always used Capsela pilots for humans with my TF way back when.shaxper wrote:Interesting! Have you tried fitting one of these figures in an '84/'85 car robot? If they fit, I just might start looking for some. I'm willing to bet they're cheaper than Diaclone drivers.
And I think there was also a toyline called 'MagnaForce' that had pilots with magnetic feet, and magnet-activated vehicles.
They sometimes fitted the TF cockpits too.
Unfortunatel my air raiders figures are at my parents house. I managed to scrounge up about 20 from their basement. Next time I am back I will check it out. From the pictures I can gather they seem pretty similar.shaxper wrote:Interesting! Have you tried fitting one of these figures in an '84/'85 car robot? I'm not too sure about the going rate for a diaclone driver, but the air raiders seem to be going for about a dollar or less each.

The STA sells Air Raider figures for what, 2$ each? And he has about 30 still...shaxper wrote:Diaclone is about $20 a pilot, and that includes the American releases with no magnetic charges in their feet
