For the Bandai rendition, you can thank Harmony Gold for that.Autobloke wrote:Someone mentioned a 'Masterpiece Jetfire' in those posts. I'd like to see one based on the design from the TF comics and cartoons. Probably won't happen though 'cos BT and ALT figures are all based on real vehicle designs. And TF purists would be in an uproar for the G1 Bandai toy version instead.
They will not allow anything Macross to come into the U.S. unless if it is named Robocrap... I mean Robotech.
So for a reissue TF like Jetfire, transformers must coincide with Robotech storyline.
If you want a Jetfire re-issue, get the Bandai Re-issue Super VF1S, should be about $100.00 new in box. It also comes with the skull and crossbones heatshield.
If you want something close to a masterpiece, get two 3rd release Roy 1/48 VF1S with 2 strike/fast pack.
Keep one original and use the other to customize.
Right now, I got a 1/55 Bandai re-issue Super VF1S, 1/48 Max and Miriya (aka: 1/48 M&M) Super VF1J, and a third issue1/48 VF1S Roy .w/Strike/Fast Pack.

That was the fault of the manufacturer, the tabs where the armor is located is very fragile. This happened to the arm and leg armor of my Takatoku 1/55 Super VF1S.Autobloke wrote:I meant more 'Skyfire' than 'Jetfire'. I still have my TF Jetfire (cool toy), but the red plastic bits tended to break where the tabs were.

Actually, it was probably my fault. I was a kid and liked the 'non-red bits' jet and the 'red bits on' robot mode. This meant that I probably attached and reattached them more than I should've. Still, they WERE a bit crappy on the resiliance front. That said, with all the proper Robotech (snigger - doing it just to annoy you!) ones still about, I suppose I could find some replacement red bits for him.Gekigengar wrote:That was the fault of the manufacturer, the tabs where the armor is located is very fragile. Perhaps this should go into the 'Bits that break' topic.

I was actually a lot more careful with mine, and it still broke.Autobloke wrote:...This meant that I probably attached and reattached them more than I should've. Buy yourself a third release Yamato 1/48 VF1S Roy and the Strike Pack (each sold seperately)... you will enjoy it. All the parts are seemless when you put the armor on the Valkyrie. You also get TV and Movie versions of the missiles.

That is certainly a lot of photos!
My TF Jetfire is packed away somewhere, but I may just buy a new figure just to treat myself. I think my import shop where I usually get my Jap/US TFs has some of this stuff. I normally don't dare to look at it 'cos I'll have already spent all my cash on Galaxy Force and I'll be sad if I find something cool and can't afford it, but perhaps I'll spend some money on something different for a change.

Yet another Jetfire custom, this time with markings and a fan story.

I just picked up one of the 'Masterpiece' Valkyries and I was very dissapointed. It looks good when it is just standing on the shelf, but the joints are so loose and wobbly that it feels broken. When I first took it out of the box it felt like I was holding a KO.
I guess I'm just used to my tight-jointed Transformers. Sometimes I struggle with my GF figures because their joints are so tight. But I keep getting the feeling that the Valkyrie is (A) nowhere near the same level of quality that Transformers have and (B) not even close to being worth the money I paid for it. (These are commonly priced at $70-80 USD. I paid $40 for mine, and I still feel like I got ripped off)
Are you having the same problems with yours?

I have 1/48 Scale Yamatos, they have tight joints.
They are about $140.00 plus dollars a pop.
Here are my Valkyries.
Though I changed my displays since then, right now, I have Millia's in fighter, Maximillian in Gerwalk and Roy "Jetjockey" Fokker in Battroid. I have Hikaru's VF1A on hold/order right now, a VF1A Cannon fodder on pre-order as well, just need to buy another Strike/Super (if I can find one), or buy 2 1/48 GBPS armor when it comes out this late summer.
