Alt. Side Swipe/which do you prefer?

First new toy I've bought myself in roughly half a year... not a bad purchase, really. He's not fabulous, but he's pretty neat... Not all that poseable, though.

I'll admit I only bought him because I couldn't find Dead End anywhere, :o ... I have issues with his legs. They aren't bending properly for me at the knees... it's difficult to bend them in the direction knees should bend, and you can't really bend his legs too well anyroad because the bit of plastic where his thigh connects to his hip is in the way.

To give this a tiny bit of relevance and to prevent it from just being a "woo, new toy!" thread, I'll ask a question. Which BT/Alternator is your current favourite? I've got Smokescreen, Hound and now Side Swipe. All Alternators. Out of the three I still prefer Smokescreen... Much better posability, mainly. He's the only toy I've got out on display constantly.

I am still planning on getting my hands on something Binaltech. Someday...

Tough choice. Grimlock is kinda good, and Jazz (I'm bloody calling him 'Jazz', alright!?) is nice - but coulda done with the stripes the old G1 version had. Smokescreen will always have a place on my shelf 'cos he was the first Alt and just blew me away.
Hmm... can we count MP Optimus? I know he's not technically an Alt, but he's always lumped into that category. It certainly isn't going to be any repaint characters (although Deadend is pretty nice).
Right. Of course: Hound. He's the most G1 accurate in his upgrade to Alt, and although he's a bit 'plasticy' (yes, I KNOW he's made of plastic - he just seems even moreso than the others if that makes sense) he just makes me smile when I see him next to my G1 reissue Hound on my desk. So, for mostly smile-factor, I go with Hound.

I suppose I could have had a bit of a think and THEN answered with just one word: Hound.

In terms of look and that fuzzy G1ish feeling, I'd say that MY fav would actually be Sideswipe. Although, I have to admit, he was my first as well.

But as far as posability, transformation, and just all around coolness, I'd have to go with Windcharger.

I like Hound and everything, I'm just not a big fan of his legs or feet.

Pity the Alt Windcharger has nob-all to do with the G1 version except being red. At least the others have some vague connection.

Hound's feet are indeed rubbish, And his gun sucks too - he should have had a chromed one that sat infront of his jeep grill like the silver box the G1 version had. Of couse, then it wouldn't be accurate to the current Jeep design.

Okay, from the waist up, Hound rocks.

Well, the Alt. and G1 Head Molds are pretty similar, which is really all something like Grimlock, Ravage, and Shockwave(plus a blaster) have in common with their previous incarnations.

It's much more tragic that they neutered the gun on the Alternator version.

From the waist up, Hound is classic G1 coolness. But Grimlock from the waist up is also sheer badassery.

Grimlock also has that colourscheme that kinda evokes the G1 toy. And he has those doors that remind me of his old back plates. And the Energo sword of course. At least they tried with him - it strikes me that they cranked Windcharger out and then just arbitrarily picked a familiar name. And yeah, most of the time it's just a colour change and slap on a new head design. :x

I was initially very p***ed off that Windcharger didn't have the gunbarrel (mines a UK version - the character boxart is also a photo and NOT a drawing like on the US one. Bizarre eh?), but he's safely back in the box now (as are most of my Alts) so it doesn't bother me as much.
