truely my favorite deluxe

Post by dexom » Tue Mar 15, 2005 9:57 pm

i was mopeing around walgreens today with my sister. she was working in the pharmacy and i was shopping for shaving gel. when what do my wondering eyes apears a sharkticon. ooowh.. i picked it up. its been awhile, people since i bought a TF. i immediately tore the package apart when i went out the door. after checking the moveing parts and making a tranfomation; i observed the many weapons, the hyper power weapons, and the detailed design as well as many turrots. at this point a child and his mother walked by and made a comment on an adult buying toys. when i got home i proceded to transform it over and over again. and i found two alts for it. one being a futuristic spaceship and the other being a wierd-out gun turrot. i greatly enjoy he paintjob; although eyes would've been nice. and ll in all i give my new addition the highest of praise A10 for a TF. i later noticed that he makes the tenth deluxe in my collection; which is another plus.

i guess in this time i would like to post a list of my current TF's

Armada

microns: space team

deluxe: sideways, blurr

giga: galvatron, tidalwave, jetfire, overload

ultra: optimus prime [base], unicron

energon

micron: perceptor, energon saber

basic: arcee, signal flare, strongarm, skyblast, battle ravage X2, divebomb X3, insecticon, godzilla [just kidding but he looks like it from the american movie]

deluxe: hotshot, rodimus, prowl, inferno, demolisher [truck], snowcat, starscream, sharkticon

mega: ironhide, jetfire, scorponok, landmine

ultra: megatron, optimus prime

supreme: unicron

and to top it off i have mirage and wingsaber [japan version] coming in the mail from ebay. i hope to be getting cybertron figures: starscream, optimus prime, dreadnaut, and master megatron real soon. maybe next month. later

Sharkticon IS cool, and a very well proportioned figure - if only that big boat/head bit wasn't so prevalent on his back.
Slugslinger was a good figure too, but he wouldn't stay solid 'cos he was made from this weird rubbery plastic - has anyone else noticed that or was I just unlucky? The new Energon Aerialbot main body jet (sorry - can't remember his name offhand) was also partly made of the same stuff if I recollect correctly.
Do the Optimus and Megatron smaller-sized double pack figures count as deluxe? They were quite good - the Megatron transforms exactly the same as the big one, and Prime now has the ability to powerlink to Hotshot, Rodimus et al.
Did anyone abroad get one of these or were they a UK exclusive 'cos only Argo stocks them here? Cool fig tho.

that optimus was a deluxe in Japan, Megatron (aka SL Galvatron) was an Ultra (dotn ask me how they make the difference between Megas and Ultras in that line, they all are big, or sometimes the Ultra is smaller...)

at first only Japan got STD Convoy (deluxe Prime's name), but the US fans wanted him as well, so Hasbro released him as a giftset with the japanese version of Megatron (smaller and better colors), so actually its not an axclusive to any country (If I'm not wrong, that Hasbro set was a store exclusive though)

i went browsing the mall today. i was going to spencer gifts to get a blacklight. and just for the heck of it i popped into toys'r'us. thats when i spotted a six shot, or should i say half a dozen. so i grabbed one; although i thought he was yellow not ugly green. but still he looks better than his purple brother; at least to me. i also saw a few starscream repaints, but passed because they look terrible in person. and toys'r'us was having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on tfs for some reason. i almost decided to buy a sledge, steamhammer, and the D5 bruticus TF [forget the name] but i was still looking for the blacklight to buy and i didn't want to be short changed i would've been]. as for six shot i like him; although some of the joints are too hard and i feel like i'm gonna break him. i sure they'll ease'n up over time, and also i find the trigger mechanism a little stiff and the missle won't go in all the way. i keep missfiring when i try to open the charge foils on account that the trigger gets stuck, and then when you push to hard to unstick it; it slides all the way. i still like him though, and i usualy just dispal my TF's so i shouldn't have to worry about transforming him often. i give him a 5 out of 10 rating; with the molding, modes, and paintjob to the good. and the flexibility, posability, and play value to the bad.

about the constructicons, arielbots, and bruticus. i was just wondering here what of them i'd find in the stores? i mean, which ones are still being stocked in stores and which would i have better luck on ebay or at a collectible or something finding them? are they all still in stores? and also i was wondering if with constructicon maximus would it still work if i only bought 2 C1's a C5 and 2 C3's. because i want to go for a more clasic green color sceme.

Apparently two of the limbs on the new Energon gestalts are just repaints of the other two limbs (does that make sense?), which is a major con.
As for Barricade, yes, that is a brilliant figure (even Onslaught colour - yay!). My only problem with him is the big kibble-box on his back in robot mode - the same beef I had with Sharkticon.
I much prefer the original colour scheme for Sixshot, ie. Shockblast - but only 'cos it makes him look more like Shockwave - a big G1 favourite of mine. If I hadn't been aware of Shockwave though, I probably wouldn't have an opinion either way.
Is shockblast/Sixshot a deluxe though? I though he was the next size up. Perhaps we should just throw this open to all sizes. Or would that just confuse things? :eyebrow:

The Energon combiners I have so far and my ranking of them

Superion Maximus
Storm Jet = Good
Treadshot= Good
Sky Shadow= Good

Constructicon Maximus (Devestator)
Steamhammer = Crap complete and utter
Duststorm = see above
Sledge = Freakin brilliant

Bruticus Maximus
Barricade = Great

Ill be getting Kickback this week when I get paid. Looks kinda crapola in packaging though

I have to say that I think my 3 favorite Energon toys are as follows:
Bulkhead
Sledge
Barricade

we have one in common-bulkhead; i also like mirage [not ugly dreadwing], and sixshot. well those are my favorites, but one of them i haven't bought yet; i have played with though-mirage. i know, i know better get him quick; hes phaseing out but i've seen a few places to get him. i tryed to buy him on ebay but at the last sec a bidder dropped fifty bucks to get an automatic minimun win. what a jerk, oh well i'll find him again somewhere.

oh and yes sixshot is a mega, but i just thought rather than make an entire new thread for my recent purchase would have just been tacky. so yah i guess we could just open the floor to all sizes; that is if anyone still has anything to say.

um on the combiners; i just had to say that a freind of mine picked up two destructicon sets. well he wanted one but bought through the net and they sent him two. he said if they let him keep his spare he'll either sell cheap or just give me his other. Nice!!
