Just wondering. Debated about putting Heads/Targets/Powers in the same catagory, but decided against it. I bet Action Masters will win in a landslide, although I'd love to see some competition.

Stuck between Action Masters and Pretenders, went with Action Masters in the end, they don't transform AHHHHHG!!

Didnt pick Pretenders after coz at least there was a Transformer inside and some shells transformed too. Oh yeah and Bludgeon!

But some of those shells were awful IMO

The second wave of Pretender robots were abysmal...the first lot are kinda cool 'cause they have that whole skeletal thing going for them, but still left with crappy alt-modes...

Anyway, Firecons are worse.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

The problem I had with my Headmasters was that it was so easy to lose the heads, and then you have a headless robot running around.

When I was a little kid I actually liked the Pretenders, and when I re-read the comics as an adult I still like them. (Except for the Walrus guy... what was the deal with him?) Anyway, I think, like all things TF, there's a lot of wasted potential there. Imagine a small TF like Bumblebee crawling into a Masamune Shirow style suit of powered armor.

And when I was a kid I actually liked the Action Masters. It seemed that so often the TFs were just bricks and it was nice to have ones that could move, even if just a little. I also liked having cartoon-accurate toys, and the loss of the alt mode didn't bug me so much.

I voted for the Firecons and Sparklers because they were A) bad toys and B) the comics that featured them were especially bad.

actually the Sparklers got to star in some very good UK stuff - notably Salvage, which includes the wonderful sight of Ultra Magnus beating the **** out of Galvatron.

yay!

Voted for AM, although the firebots came a very close second. Cindersaur especially was cack, I do believe.

Action Masters, because these robots had NO disguise!

What idiot thought them up, anyway?

Cheif Exec: "Hmm, now what direction can we move these transforming robots in next? We've done: transforming from robot to vehicle; triple-changing; multi-changing; combining; merging; head is a robot; gun is a robot; engine is a robot; robot is hidden inside a plastic shell..."
Lowly Exec: "Hey, how about the robot, right, doesn't transform!"
Chief exec: "That's incredible! Now you're talking! Rog, get me a half-dozen molds made up by April!"

The person who noticed most Transformers had so little articulation they made crap toys once the gimmick of changing them a couple of times had worn off... plus it was a chance to get good likenesses of characters who hadn't been on the shelves for years outside the UK Classic Hero line, but who still featured in the comics and show re-runs.

Action Masters weren't a bad idea. The accessories didn't emphasise transformation enough, and putting all the eggs into the ActionMaster and MicroMaster baskets wasn't smart, but the concept of highly poseable figures wasn't bad.

Now we get ball-and-socket joints and transforming.
