Once, Twice...Three Times A Tracks Mold?

Post by Shanti418 » Thu Feb 10, 2005 5:05 am

Red Chevy Corvette with the name "Swerve" on it, and a new head.

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/thread67661.html

Here's a page about the G1 Swerve. Notice the similarities in the head mold.

http://www.tfu.info/1986/Autobot/Swerve/swerve.htm

I could handle them milking cash from everyone by using a mold for a THIRD time better if they didn't use the worst (IMO) fig in the Alt line. You call those legs? Hmph.

I don't mind all that much, but after two repaints already, the Tracks mold doesn't leave any surprises for the third time around, aside from the head.

they didnt bother giving Ravage some claws instead of shooters on his fore-arms, so I doubt they will now

Perhaps they could give him a little Rasberry Beret on his head, too.

Seriously. It wouldn't be that much worse than having a cat head for no discernable reason.

Perhaps they should stop recoloring old molds and give us something that is worth the prices that Tfs are selling nowadays!

Hear hear! How about something that isn't a car for once either? How about a nice jet or tank or boat? No guns obviously (kinda a pity though). I'm just about sick and tired of Alternator repaints - I just don't buy them - TFs are expensive enough as it is without paying for the same thing twice. It seems that repaints are the standard curse of all TF lines now. :x :x :x
New stuff please.

if there would be a tank or jet, then the licensing company would have no objections to add a weapon for the TF, as they make massive destruction weapons themselves

its nothing like Honda US that said no to the barrel, or Volkswagen that doesnt want toys related to wars

Yeah, I got my Windcharger from a UK release and was SO annoyed that the barrel was omitted. Surely it's no more dangerous than those long missiles that come with current Energon TFs. Didn't Alt Ravage have his barrel though?
As for the weapons, I meant the hassle connected to the Megatron reissue that meant he'd have to come to the US as either pink or blue - not very authentic. That same problem would be transferred to Alternators Megatron. Tanks and jets are slightly more acceptable as we have model kits of those things and no-one complains. Yet.
And Volkswagon are just dickheads - who'd even recognise a VW Beetle these days if Bumblebee hadn't been around to advertise him?

Take heart. Just 'cos VW want to be dicks doesn't mean we can't still have our fave yellow mini-bot as an Alternator. There must be loads of small cars companies out there that wouldn't be so touchy if their model was painted like the sun and changed into a little robot. Alt Sideswipe wasn't a Lamborghini and Alt Jazz wasn't a Porsche, but we still liked those versions didn't we?

Like what? If I remember correctly, they've already talked about and rejected the idea of a Mini Cooper.
And anyway, it's not like us fans wouldn't cry bloody murder if Bumblebee was released as a Dodge Neon or something.
Hell, they'd probably say they lost the rights to Bumblebee and call him "Autohornet" or something.

For those who haven't seen the kitbashed Binaltech Bumblebee at Transfans sister site TFW2005:

Windcharger's castration had nothing to do with safety problems. Just as VW didn't want their license associated with "war toys", Honda US didn't like the idea of Windcharger being a big, bad sniper. That's why he carries "two shields". Ravage had no changes because Chevy didn't have any concerns with him being a warrior.

There are other small car models about besides the Mini Cooper (just ask me to name them - I only know makes that were TFs). And although we'd most definately be happy if the 'Bee was a larger car (as would he himself), I'm sure we'd much prefer him as a mini-bot (not 'Mini' bot).
And, I don't know, 'Autohornet' isn't too bad a name - but it wouldn't be a Bumblebee figure then would it?
Besides, being a fan favourite (regardless of his absense in BW, BM, RID, Armada and Energon as a character), Bumblebee HAS to be in the new movie - so he'll need a vehicle mode. The problem will hopefully be solved then.
I also always thought that not having him be accidentally reactivated in BW season three with a temporary Bee beast mode and then mindwiped and put back into stasis lock at the end of the series was a wasted opportunity.
Just had a look at the kitbashes: now that's what I'm talking about! Anyone done any Star Trek or Thunderbirds TF 'bashes?
