Before I say what my problem is, please know that I've tried to Google this at least 20 times. This is one of my last hopes here. Also rest assured that I will feel very dumb if the answer is right in front of me and I just don't see it.
Regarding the 20th Anniv. Optimus Prime, I've seen some people say that "yeah, the feet popped off, but I was able to pop them right back on." My problem is that both feet on my Prime were not secured to his legs before I took him out of the box and I see no way to get them to reattach properly. I can slide the hydraulic "pegs" into the cylinders on the back, and then I can sit the ankle ball into the cup-like socket on a foot. However, nothing clicks into place. There is nothing to lock the foot there. I've pushed a foot up into the joint and the only good that did was it opened the shin vents. Cool touch, great, but I want the foot to STAY ON! Right now, the only thing that keeps the feet on Prime is my hand. I've even tried taking the individual feet and configuring them into truck mode according to the instructions and trying to see if that shows me, "Oh! That clips into that right there!" but that didn't do any good, either. I've also noticed the left and right differences, too, but neither foot works on either ankle.
Is the ball joint the problem? Is that the only thing that is supposed to keep the foot on? Does it sound like both of the ankle joints on my Prime are defective?
Any pointers to topics that already covered this or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the ball joint is the only thing that holds the foot, you'll need to put some clear nail polish on the ball, let it dry and then pop the foot on
clear nail polish is great for all loose balljoints
