Just throwing something out.
Yes, I know Beast Wars/Transmetal Megatron is not an option.
We're talking about, if you could only own one, which one would it be? Which do you enjoy displaying/transforming the most?

Energon all the way. Best looking Megatron to date, plus the transformation is simply unique. I love the fact that parts move themselves as you transform him. Highly clever.
I definitely give honorable mentions to TM2 Megatron (awesome look and amazing transformation), G2 tank (clunky but simple. Nice appearance in both modes, and satisfying to transform), and the G1 original (clever transformation, even if it looks horrible as a robot. Nostalgia factor should definitely be considered). RID Megatron didn't really look like anything in 9 of his 10 modes. Armada seemed too simple and action figure-like in robot mode, and uninteresting in vehicle mode.

I've got to go with the energon megs on this one. He puts the G1 Galv figure to SHAME!
...then again, I always liked Galvatron better than Megatron (in the G1 series, anyways, when there was a difference between the two...)

Click here to hear my tunes!
The problem with RID Megatron is that it might change into 10 things but none of them actually look good. I would rather have one good Transformation (Megabolt Megatron) than twenty crappy ones.
And G1 Megs makes an impressive pistol but I would rather have a toy that's more poseable and sturdy (which is why I prefer modern toys over G1)

G1 Megs as a gun - the gun is cool, the robot for is a bit naff but all the orginal TF toys had a weight to them, prolly because they were metal or somthing.
But the quality seemed far higher on the orginal AUtobot cars for examople, now adays, apart from the ALternators, all the toys are garish colours, and look like, well toys.
The concept of megatron as a gun is pure in designs aswell.
As a single object, guns kill, thats thier single defining point, to kill - which pretty much sums megatron up.
one of my loves of the Old transformers was that thier Alt forms sumerised thier character so perfectly.
nowadays they have lil point at all.
