Got BT Grimmers this week and just thought 'meh'. I just seemt o have lost all enjoyment of TFs and now semy massive collection as a bit of a pain in terms of my lifestyle - they take up a whole room more or less.
i don't know if this is just a phase or if i should start selling or what.
damnit.
Hmmm.
Maybe leave it for a bit rather than selling, see if it is a phase. Unless you need the cash I think it'd be a shame to start shifting stuff. Esp as I seem to have got the impression you have some pretty nifty stuff.
If you still fel kinda 'meh' about your toys after a wee while, how about packing them/some of them up and storing them away? If that still causes space issues, I don't suppose you could nicely ask your parents if you could stick some boxes in their loft?
I went off TF toys for years, but packed them up and stored them insted of selling them (like I did with my He-Man stuff) and when the collecting bug hit me again I was very, very glad they were all still safe and sound (except for Lord Zarak who somehow managed to abscond with Menasor's right foot-plate and facemask, grrr).

I like to prune every so often, but I've never really had completist urges for TFs in the first place. Essentially, anything I'm not going to display, re-read or get out again periodically, I tend not to hang onto.
By keeping it down to items I have a special affection for or just think are particularly cool (eg, I disliked Armada/ML in general but Rampage is funky) I enjoy having around more those I do.
Collected one of each character in the 2000 MOTU revamp line before culling them down to the eleven I really like, too...

Hey Besty-o
You're going through a not-too-pleasant time at the mo, so I suppose it's only to be expected that your enthusiasm may be a little dampened as of late.
I'm with Mr Mob-I'd box them up for a bit if you really don't want them in your way, and then see how you feel a little later on. Didn't you say elsewhere that a move may be on the cards for you? If so, chances are you could find yourself with more display space. I don't have the space to display all my G1's (that and most of them look like they've lost a fight with a tractor), so I invested in some resealable sandwich bags, packed them individually and then boxed them all up-about 90 TF's in 4 small boxes.
You've spent so much time and effort amassing what does indeed sound like an awesome collection, that it would be a real shame if you got rid of them.
Just my two penneth

If you're bent on clearing out and cleaning up, as well as no longer collecting; Why not catalog everything prior to selling? Take nice, detailed, maybe even digital photos of every item, side, front, rear, all modes, whatever. Fill up a specialized photo album or twenty, add any specs or whatnot, even a personalized entry if desired. Then sell, sell, sell! You'll have documented your memories of them, have cleaned out the room, can set aside the "catalogs" and not have to keep explaining to visiting newbs about "that room filled with toys".
Man, just the thought of cataloging every item... ...***** I'd love an undertaking like that.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.
The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

I'm gonna pretty much echo everyone else here. Keep the stuff you really like and get rid of the stuff in the boxes. If that's what you wanna do, I mean...
Don't really know what it's like to have a completist urge. I know I used to have something akin to one but I suspect it's travelled to the same place my socks go when I lose them in the dryer.

I don't know your nature saysadie, but should it be like most of the fairer sex, think "shoes".

I've often considered "getting rid" of my Transformers myself. And yet I still have the lot. True, most of them are stored at my parents' place, but still.
They're special to me, sure, they are part of fantastic childhood memories.
I bought a few RiD toys, got Alternator Smokescreen. But I don't know what for, really. I'm looking for an extension of the myth, but I guess toy robots no longer offer me that feeling.
It's cool Transformers made a huge come back, in a sense I feel today's kids will never be able to appreciate them as we did back then. Transformers are our toys, not theirs.
But things change, and sometimes we have to move on. Perhaps this is one of those times, perhaps not.
All the best in making a decision, Paul. Look for happiness, and I'm sure you'll do the right thing.

Yeah, there's no need to get rid of 'em. Just pack 'em up and forget about 'em.
Personally, because my collection is small, I've thought about trying to sell off most of it and only collect things I really want (like Alternators and WST). Then I'll start collecting again when I'm married and bored.
Speaking of being married, another reason to hold on to your TFs is because maybe you'll want to share them with a Best First Jr. at some point. Or would that be Best Second?

Well, if you want to get rid of them, mail them to me...
Seriously, I had such thoughts too, and I don't have a big collection. Put'em away and keep only one or two at a time on your desk. Switch these with new ones every week or so, and you'll start to enjoy those few you currently watch/transform sooner or later!
Cheer up!

I personally am only buying toys very sporadically (though I recently splashed out on an Energon Arcee ^_^) and have had lots of thoughts about selling the collection. I know I probably won't though...Completism was never an option.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

If you do decide to keep collecting Besty, may I suggest this item? (I think to show that you're 'back in the game' you should wear it on a chain).

Purchase this one too, and have it attached to a ring:

If you do decide to do this, would it be possible that you wear mirrored wrap-around shades, refer to yourself only in the third-person, and loudly proclaim yourself to be 'THE ULTIMATE COLLECTOR' should anybody address you by any other name?
Just thinkin' of you baby, just thinkin' of you.

I think the thrill of pulling my collection out of storage in a couple of years will be nice. I'm personally locking up my collection in storage. The only line that I am collecting from now on is Binal Tech.
My soon to be roommate will have over a lot of her girlfriends, and having a room full of Transformers isn't exactly a babe magnet. Once I buy my own house, I might give them a room again.
