VF means Valkyrie Fighter from the original Macross series ... in Robocrap ... I mean, Robotech *ahem* means Veritich Fighter.
All pictures are from Valkyrie-Exchange.
Original Jetfire Image:
Original Takatoku 1/55 or Bandai 1/55 for Jetfire:
Takatoku Super Valkyrie:
Bandai Strike Valkyrie 1/55:
Bandai Re-Issue 1/55 w/out Super Armor, it also comes packaged w/one for a wee bit more.

The Armada variant seems to be smaller, I don't have the Optimus Prime/Jetfire toy in general to compare with... I just found the image.
However the original Jetfire and the Macross Valks from Takatoku and Bandai as well as the reissues are indeed taller than TF alternators.... I have yet to obtain Alt. Tracks to compare my 1/55 Takatoy and Bandai Re-issue with..
Roy Focker is the original name of the character for Macross (just insert your name jokes, and you will see why it was changed).
Roy Fokker is the changed name for Robotech.
As far as pictures 1, 2, 3 and 4 are concerned, the toys are indeed same size in terms of physically looking and touching it, the images are just shrunk for web purposes only.

Actually there is a whole controversy about the Valkyrie toy look spanning between several different companies.... involving BigWest, Takatoku, Bandai (co. that sold to Takara the Super VF1S mold for the Jetfire toy), and Takara.Pretender Bumblebee wrote:Thats actualy kinda cool. I wouldn't have named it Optimus Prime but besides that its a cool little figure.
Thanks to Harmony Gold, any transforming jet similar or in essence that of the Veritech would constitute copyright infringement to that of the Robotech Veritech would recieve a lawsuit... thus no reproduction of the Valkyrie for Jetfire thru Takare/Hasbro... long story short, Harmony Gold, claims to have all rights to Macross... which is still quite debatable.
I assumed they needed a name that would not have been synonimous to that of Jetfire/Skyfire, so they can dance around the legal issues. Also, there was a small scale 1/100 Valk... and it was smaller than that of an Alternator.

If someone sold me that, I'd demand my money back!Gekigengar wrote:Found this online....
"Where's MY Sparkplug Mini-Con, then. Eh?"
Obviously whoever decided on the packaging, simply took an Armada Prime's box and stuffed the Valk into it, thinking noone would notice, just didn't care, was ignorant of what he/she was doing, or wondered if anyone would pick up on it.
