Got Energon Omega Supreme today!

Post by Neo Challenger » Thu Aug 19, 2004 1:35 am

Found him at Target, $49.99. He's big. Transformation is simple, but he's a nice piece. Some features: the neck-joint, where you plug in his head (yay Headmasters! and the head is a nice TF too), pulls up and makes a tiny little head! I don't remember seeing that in any pix. The space cruiser half is HEAVILY inspired by Space Battleship Yamato; all the guns are cool, though.. The combination with Energon Prime is, well, I don't get it. It's kinda ugly, plus most of Prime sticks out of Omega's back. Oh well. Overall, highly recommended if a bit pricey.

Update to my topic "WalMart sucks": I have not shopped at, or even set foot in, a WalMart for about two months now. Of course, it'll be tough to pass up that exclusive Piranacon...

I love Omega; particularly the Yamato wanna-be ship (fully agreed) and the combined mode, but the headmaster (great idea) seems a bit shady, and I get the sense that Hasbro/Takara didn't really think out the yellow vehicle. What the heck is it supposed to be? What's with the grey claw thingie and the orange transparent window/door? Certainly not as complex, cool, or logical as the blue half.

Sorry, but I thought he sucked big time.
As an ornament I kinda like him, but as a Transformer toy he's too limited and simple.
I like my TFs to at least have a bit more to them than the ability to lay out an intruder with one solid blow. Wow! He splits down the middle! What a transform (okay, I know you have to twist a few other bits, but mostly he just splits). The little head guy is the only cool thing, but he falls off Omega's shoulders rather too easily. The Prime combination is rubbish, especially as his head is too small for OS's body.
I expect FAR more for my fifty quid - just look at the amazing Unicron toy you can get in the same price range (for much less now in fact).
Energon Omega Supreme is just lazy toymaking. :(

A wise choice God (are you THE God? - I'd like to know where I stand on the 'going to heaven/hell' issue).
I was really tempted to buy the Unicron recolour, just 'cos it was a nice redo, but I already have the orange one (safely back in his box now - damn all those twisty ties!) so I decided it would be a waste of money unless I found one for about thirty quid. I'll have to keep an eye on the post-Energon clearance sales.
Hope you enjoyed you Unicron.
