Lost Light #14

Now THAT's what I'm talkin bout. Best issue of LL thus far, IMO, with everything I'm looking for in a TF comic. Some great characters of yore return within a great story, answering important questions of the past, tying up some loose ends, leading to a very surprising ending. Where has this been?

I always wondered what went down with so many of the major players after they were taken to Garrus-9 and thought we would just never have an answer, that it was just kind of forgotten. Credit James for filling that part of continuity in. Roberts has decided to reach even further back to the Hot Rod Spotlight and provides us an answer as to what happened to the Magnifecence. After all, something that powerful can't just be swept away and forgotten. What a clever back story, and it just begs the question, did Roberts plan this from the very beginning with Grimlock? I think he did. Wonder who was responsible for housing it in Grimlock's chest? Don't even have to think long on that one. Gotta be Prowl.

You have to appreciate the effort James puts into world building. It's the most intricate story-telling we've seen in a TF comic, maybe in any TF medium.

Can't wait for the next issue.

Another crackin' issue.

Buuuuuuut... I can't help but feel like good ol' JR is setting up for the finale. These last six months seem to have been wrapping up a lot of the loose ends that have been dangling since the early days of the series. The location of Cyber Utopia, the Lost Light itself, Tailgate, and now Grimlock, the Scavengers, and the Magnificence. Part of the joy of this series is how it can get off track so effortlessly, but it really does feel like it's moving toward a final conclusion. After that happens, and all the toys are put back in the box, I wonder what'll be next for Transformers and for JR. You've got to assume that Lost Light winning just *all* of the awards last year didn't go unnoticed.

I was just hoping he was reading the Transfans message board and decided to move things along.

However, you bring up a good point. Not knowing what the digital sales are, the actual comic sales of TF are abysmal and one has to ask whether that level of revenue lends itself to a sustainable comic.
