Gotta disagree with Smooth on this one. It was a filler issue that once again focused on the lovey-dovey, touchy-feely aspects of the cast, which I have come to loathe.
Domey and Rewind making out in the back seat of Roller. Canoodling? Cyclonus, jealous of the two's love for each other that he has now lost, lashes out with impetuous high school teenager rage. Is it just me, or does Cyclonus become a bigger and bigger pussy with each issue?
I know some readers, perhaps a large number of them, prefer this kind of focus. I'm not one of them. Not in Transformers, anyway.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Re: Lost Light #13
That's fair enough. I, personally, absolutely love it. Love it to the point where it's one of the things that keeps me interested in the franchise. But if it's not your back, that's totally understandable.Yaya wrote: Gotta disagree with Smooth on this one. Once again, I totally get if that's not your thing. But I found it hilarious.
Now, here's where we disagree. I don't think that showing more and more emotion means that somebody has become "a bigger and bigger pussy". Love, and you can argue forever if it was romantic love or parental love that Cyclonus felt for Tailgate, is not a character flaw. That a character as cold, stoic, and (let's face it) one-dimensional, can wind up developing feelings for somebody is an incredible bit of character development, and one that JR somehow managed to make work. I've *seen* people like Cyclonus go through similar arcs in real life.Yaya wrote: Cyclonus, jealous of the two's love for each other that he has now lost, lashes out with impetuous high school teenager rage. I've got good news and bad news for ya. The Optimus Prime comics may be more of what you're looking for. The bad news is that the book is about to get the axe.Yaya wrote: I know some readers, perhaps a large number of them, prefer this kind of focus. I'm not one of them. Not in Transformers, anyway.

Well, I can't really argue that point. I'm usually not one to mistake compassion or mercy as weakness. I guess it just bothers me to see him fall apart over it for what seems like half the series. And to be honest, I never could understand what Cyclonus saw in Tailgate. I think some readers like myself aren't too keen on Tailgate at this point, and to see Cyclonus feel the opposite way to how I'm feeling about the little **** just makes me look differently at Cyclonus than I did before. I didn't really find him one-dimensional at all. Stoic and a bit emotionless, yes, but certainly intriguing to have aboard a ship full of Autobots. His history by itself makes his presence compelling. Now, here's where we disagree. I don't think that showing more and more emotion means that somebody has become "a bigger and bigger pussy". I have been reading Optimus Prime and really can't stand it. Barber just sits on an idea and that idea lasts literally twenty issues before he moves on. He does one thing accidentally clever, and impressed with himself, shoves it in our faces for, not months, but what seems like years. I will be excited when he hands over the reigns of the other TF titles to someone else **cough, Furman cough** so that I can get back into it. But really, Lost Light is all I care about.
