Remember when the writer said that the comic wouldn't get more self-referential than the whole Brainstorm/Megatron thing?

Gaaaah, I think I'm going to have to stay away from social media for a while as it's going to be full of insufferable ****s squeeing about how Cyclonus is a girl.
"I told you to stay off Tumblr."

I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Re: MTMTE #43 (preview)
It... actually got on my tits a bit.
It seems a bit like MTMTE is moving away from what I like, IE cool, well written robots kicking the [composite word including 'f*ck'] out of each other, and moving towards a niche of self congratulatory twitter ***** with twee storylines about robots dancing to a subtext of them bumming each other.
I'm as fine with dancing and buggery as the next angry white man. I just prefer it in Hollyoaks, not Transformers.
This is going a bit up it's own arse.
Having seen the solicits, I'm confident I'll enjoy the upcoming stories. Just not overly fond of these forced love triangle bits.
Might even like this one, just... the preview made me think "ARSE"

Don't mind Cyclonus as Madame Vastra. That's pretty cool. Tailgate being a baby/toddler seems a bit creepy, though.

I do feel like the last few issues have gone beyond that level of silliness that suits the series.
I'll reserve judgement 'till I've read the full issue though.

Re: MTMTE #43 (preview)
Most of the brilliant, wacky bits that made the series so enjoyable (to me) for first three years of stories were that they were very quick bits in the larger story. Rewind/Domey, for instance, was a few pages at the end of an arc featuring Overlord AND served as an introduction to what The Institute could do.
So much of what made Thunderclash work was that all of his exploits happened off-panel.
When the wacky bits *drive* and eventually take over the story, it kind of detracts a bit, imo.
I mean, the stuff w/ Thunderclash (and even a bit of the "behind the curtain" stuff with the DJD feels more like open parody than anything else.

As a fan of Cheers, I thought that was great. Can't wait for YouTube to do its this w/ the song.
Swerve never should've used that Meta device, though. Nothing but trouble.

I share everyone's concerns but enjoyed it (and last issue) nonetheless.
Having the two back to back seems pretty indulgent though, as has been said its like the quirk has been elevated to centre stage rather than providing a charming veneer.

One of those times it's nice to be shown wrong. Great issue. AWESOME pay-off.

Re: MTMTE #43 (preview)
I think this will be a divisive issue but I honestly think it was brilliant.
First the art and the holomatter avatars was just brilliant. Rodimus takes the cake but Megatron is so good.
The plot was a great homage to Community style stories. Humor that wraps up a package of deep sadness and pain.
Finally that last reveal was ridiculous. I mean talk about continuity.

Swerve's damaged shoulder can be seen in Chaos. 4 years ago.

I think my faith's been restored. I could pick a couple of holes in this if I really wanted, but the payoff was well worth the wait and there were so many good moments they outweighed any quibbles I might have.
I absolutely adore that there were so many clues along the way that I totally missed - and I was just reading that issue where they got rescued from Kimia the other week.

Anyone else noticed that the shadowing on Megatron's avatar's face is the Decepticon symbol?
Same on his cane.

Loved it! Roberts was able to indulge his love for meta self-referential fannish stuff and pull off a good story.
Best First wrote:I didn't like it. They don't have mums, or dads, or children. And they turn into stuff. And they don't eat Monster Munch or watch Xena: Warrior Princess. Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.
Re: MTMTE #43 (preview)
Very clever. Not as bad as i dreaded. A bit self indulgent, yes, but with purpose and serves the overall story arc. Enjoyed it.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.
