Bear with me.
When we look honestly at IDW's output, they've gone up and down in shocking ways. Starting with Furman was a great idea--soft-rebooting into yet another limited series was dumb, right. And everything since then, barring Roberts, has been a bit half-assed. Little-known writers. Barber editing and writing at once. Now shilling for toys.
Compare that to Marvel's handling of Star Wars, in which they handed the series to three of the hottest writers in comics. I mean, the guy who wrote ******* Scalped is writing the main series. MARK WAID is writing Leia.
Would that mean that Roberts and Milne would go? Highly doubt it. Would Marvel want to kick out a guy who makes the Buy Pile every month, who got a good review from Jason Aaron, and whose books are getting pugged everywhere from Feminist Frequency to Tor.com? Rather, I think Marvel would snap James up in an exclusive and throw him a couple of Marvel Cosmic books. And then they would throw Gillen on the main TF series.
Marvel might not want to shill for toys. But I doubt it. They're already writing good stories around the inter-company politics with Disney/Fox.
Anyway. Just my 2 cents of sense. Eh, Joey?

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

What i dislike of the IDW output, I (mostly) moderately dislike. What I love of IDW is the kind of love that grows old with you and wipes your ass when you are 90. That special kind of love where you cant imagine anything or anyone else coming between you and the object of your desire.
I see your point and I dont completely disagree, but I am happy with IDW keeping the reigns a bit longer.

IDW's continuity has gotten quite convoluted, I will say that. I think Metroplex alone has had like five backstories which confuse the hell out of me. Simon's stuff was meh, McCarthy's stuff was blah, and Costa's stuff was pure ****. Barber's isn't any better. Which really leaves us with Roberts and Roches' wonderful stuff, and Simon's okay stuff worth talking about.
So out of ten years or so, we really haven't had the kind of output I'd call great.
Having said that, I would not want to endanger what we have now with MTMTE with a transfer of the license. Roberts you can tell has put in a hell of a lot of effort using IDW's continuity as the framework to give us great stories. I think he'd be quite flustered to start anew.
Plus, I think I'm starting to get confused on TF history. For example, I sometimes struggle trying to remember is Stormbringer and Megatron Origins were DW material or IDW's. Adding yet another reboot with another back history would make me more senile then I am now.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

I'm sorry but all other writers and publishers can get ******. I don't want anyone interfering with MTMTE

Yeah anything that threatens MTMTE is not worth the risk.
Agree that the handling of the SWs comics is the balls tho.

IDW's record threatens MTMTE. IMHO.

Re: I want Marvel to get the TF license back
Sure. Give Marvel the Transformers license back.
Just give James Roberts enough of a heads up to finish his story.
...and do it BEFORE IDW inevitably goes back to the "Heroic Autobots vs Evil Decepticons with the fate of planet earth hanging in the balance" status quo.
That's the unspoken dread that hangs over MTMTE. Some guy. Probably the very next writer, in fact, is going to completely undo this. They'll have Cyclonus betray the Lost Light crew, claiming that he's always been a Decepticon. Minimus Ambus will be completely absorbed into the Magnus armor and become TRULY Ultra Magnus. And Megatron...sigh...

I'm worried about the fate of Cyclonus give his new toy, which is supposed to combine with Galvatron. [composite word including 'f*ck'] that noise.

Re: I want Marvel to get the TF license back
Well I had a longish conversation with the dude in the comic book shop the other day and he pointed out that while both the-comic-formerly-known-as-RID and Windblah are being used to shill Combiner Wars toys, MTMTE is being left out of this particular universe-changing crossover. We're simply not getting Dark Cybertron 2 this time around, mainly because of the howls of protest over the 6 month MTMTE hiatus the first one caused. So, no combiner Cyclonus getting bits stuck on him to become Galvatron, at least not in the IDW comics.
That's progress, right?

I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Re: I want Marvel to get the TF license back
When I was skimming this thread yesterday I nearly made a joke that "yeah but they've also given it to John Cassaday which means it'll never come out on time", but I see from this morning's news that he's leaving after the first arc. So it looks like they're learning.bumblemusprime wrote:Compare that to Marvel's handling of Star Wars, in which they handed the series to three of the hottest writers in comics.
