The art was really enjoyable in places, but I felt like the backgrounds might as well have been matte paintings in a cartoon--not much sense of depth or placement, especially when we're used to Alex Milne's insane detail re background.

Stone's art is much better in RID #33, I think Windblade was very much a rushed job.
I thought a lot of the ideas in Windblade had merit - I wanted to see more of Starscream's "Badgeless" enforcers for example, and kept expecting them to pop up in Punishment, which they didn't
That would have been the perfect time to revisit them.

I have to say, for all the heat that RiD gets, and Windblade to some extent, I would much rather read a book where a good idea kinda fizzles out and ain't quite there than the abortions that were AHM and the Costa years.

I'd comment on AHM and the Costa years but, being just like a simple-minded, hot-tempered bogtrotter, I might use a pejorative phrase that offends more sensitive, enlightened souls.
