The "IDW Collection" hardcovers

Post by Brendocon » Mon Jun 02, 2014 4:39 pm

What up stubbies!

As I am yet to purchase any of the MTMTE/RiD trades (and have started to become a bit of a hardback whore), I was contemplating just jumping in with this when it comes out:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transformers-ID ... collection

I was wondering if anybody had any of the prior collections in the same series and had any feedback on the quality thereof? Y'know the thing - binding quality, paper stock, how well it stacks up as defence against home invasion.

Cheers homedawgs. :)

I have heard that they're not much for extra features. Which, actually, the paperbacks aren't either, barring a few sketches.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Aren't the issues in phase one hardcovers unreasonably in the chronological order (and not correct one from what I read). I just think that's wrong approach.

I've seen that IDW is doing their run from the beginning in fat softcovers which is my favourite print format, but the first one has Infiltration, Escalation and Devastation, which made me pause for a second. Why not Stormbringer? I started reading the opinions on that, and then I remembered about Spotlights. It makes no sense they're missing, so I'm gonna wait and see what will the next volume have.

But first I wanted to see whether I even want these books and read the run anyway, some of it for the first time as shocking as it is, as I think I didn't even finish Devastation back then (the time before Comixology, eh). So first, the Furman stuff, I think I have it all either in singles or digital. I took the publishing order, moved Spotlights that were released during the mini-series before given minis, and came up with this:

Infiltration #0-6
Shockwave
Stormbringer #1-4
Nightbeat
Hot Rod
Sixshot
Ultra Magnus
Soundwave
Kup
Escalation #1-6
Galvatron
Optimus Prime
Ramjet
Blaster
Arcee
Devastation #1-6
Mirage
Grimlock
Wheelie
Cyclonus
Hardhead
Doubledealer
Sideswipe
Maximum Dinobots #1-5

Is it everything from before All Hail Megatron? Does any of the spotlights that happen "now" need to be moved? The ones set in the past I'll leave where they were published, unless there is something in concurrently released issues that sets them up and is needed to be read beforehand.
