Hey guys
Not been around much recently due to work blah - still have several half written response to the gender topic on my laptop but seem to have missed that boat a bit.
Anyway - some good news - seems that IDW stuff is now getting uplaoded pretty much overnight in the same manner as DC on comixology which means that when we finally revert to normal after Dark Sell Metroplex Repaintsatron concludes that our pangs for MTMTE will be met ever so slightly sooner once a month.
Some less good news... i have no idea what is going on. Or i do and it's just a bit crap. Nice to see Griffiths back on art (he is not my fave but far better than that other chap/chapess we have been enduring) - also hard not to enjoy "My Name is Optimus Prime" but overrall... the MacGuffin is a thumb?
And i hate the way that Shockers is more or less absent and then suddenly is the big bad again - rubbish.
Overall this has been a) way to long and b) a massive waste of time. Bet there is some pointless character death on the way as well.

Re: Dark Cybertron Part Whatever
At this point I'm just looking for them to salvage a good reason/story for why Megatron ends up leading the Lost Light as an Autobot. If they can accomplish at least that, then it won't be a total loss. They're starting to sow the seeds of that, but I'll need a bit more than Bumblebee carrying Megatron around for an hour before I'll accept that after millions of years of war that the 'Bots would just acquiesce that easily.
That being said, if they do pull it off, it'll be fertile ground for some great stories. I would definitely be in for a BSG Season 4 style coup story arc or the Game of Thrones Night's Watch loyalty subplot with Jon Snow. In addition, in keeping with MTMTE's ability to go from dark to light in a second, I think it'll also be tons of fun to see Megatron interact with Swerve or Cyclonus, and of course Ultra Magnus.

"And I will rip off your arm, Nova Prime! Why? Because I am Optimus Prime!"
"And I will restore Metroplex to full power by giving him back........his thumb!"
Yadda, yadda, yadda....
Seriously some lame unexplainable **** going down here. Artwork sucked, IMO, pretty much throughout the issue. No Raiz. Seemed like Barber wrote this whole issue by the dialogue.

There was some Raiz. Also, before BeefSter beat me to it, I was going to title my reaction thread Dark Isitoveryetertron

Re: Dark Cybertron Part Whatever
I actually read the current issue, so I'll just add the following three points.
Can someone explain to me what the deal with Nova Prime is? Was he Zeta? Or is he just an Evil Avatar of the Dead Universe that takes whatever form is convenient? Or is he Nova Prime with new shapeshifting powers? I'm sorry if it was previously explained, but that whole part of the book kinda melded into a bit of a mess for me.
There better be a darn good explanation about that thumb. Maybe it's the underbase.
BTW, remember how the Lost Light is supposedly like 20 miles long or something? Just how big does that make Metroplex then? It's like the City of Chicago and its suburbs started walking around. That would make his thumb the size of a skyscraper.

If it helps, you can stop reading and just blame it all on Wolverine breaking time in Age of Ultron?
It's the new Scarlet Witch Did It. And because it involved the b0rking of time and space to such a degree that Angela is now a Marvel character, there's no reason it can't have just made Megatron an Autobot with no explanation needed.
You're welcome.

Re: Dark Cybertron Part Whatever
I'm a bit torn on this issue. It's not half bad and stuff actually happened.
But it's taken us nine issues to get here. Nine issues of Bumblebee and Prowl standing around arguing over what they should do. Nine issues in and we still have no idea what Shockwave's plan actually is. Apparently Metroplex's thumb was infused with regeneration ore, but we've seen nothing so far to explain why or how. It all feels very fanficcy.
And I hate the fact that the Lost Light has returned to Cybertron. It kinda destroys part of MTMTE's premise for no real reason.

Re: Dark Cybertron Part Whatever
My understanding of the thumb was that Megatron somehow transferred some of the ore13 power in his body by reattaching the thumb to Metroplex whilst holding it.
I kinda enjoyed this issue despite some of the ridiculousness going on.

I'm not reading this (trade waiting), but I have been half-skimming your comments about the series and forming half-baked opinions based on them. It's kind of the way I "followed" Doctor Who for the last 8 years. So I'm expecting GREAT things once I finally get to sit down and go through it.
Although, to keep the Doctor Who thing going, I guess I should read the last two pages of part 10, then all of 11, then parts 1-10, THEN part 12.

Re: Dark Cybertron Part Whatever
I've taken the same tack as Professor Smooth. I bought the first crossover issue, thought "Sod this", and haven't touched DC since. And that's been a really hard thing to do because I've loved getting MTMTE; it's given me that giddy kid feeling from the 80's of going to the newsagents to collect my reserved comic, mixed with the really good writing and depth of James' characters.
Dark Cybertron doesn't interest me. Ever since the tagline of the G2 comics "This is NOT your father's Autobot", I have been weary of Universe game-changing events and dodgy taglines. Honestly, how do you take a died-in-the-wool fan and totally turn him away from your comics? That takes a special blend of ineptitude. Is there evidence Dark Cybertron brought in new readers? Good for them if that's the case.
But, you know, "Nothing will be the same after this...", get to ****.
I'd actually like the second season of MTMTE to have a tagline like; "Really sorry about the last four months, here's a voucher for fish n' chips at your local participating chippie, and we promise not to do this again".
[Edit] Despite the naff tagline I really enjoyed G2.

I'm puzzled by it all. I mean, I don't actually follow it. The art... or the story.
I got my mate to hold up the comic and I told him what I thought was going on. Oh yeah, we filmed it.

Re: Dark Cybertron Part Whatever
Overall, probably the best issue by far to date. Stuff happened! Not always completely logical stuff, but I guess having watched the '86 film so recently I'm slightly numbed to nonsensical McGuffin's at the moment.
Just look at the difference from the last part, which had lots of characters standing around talking at each other that- however entertaining- never felt like there was any sense of urgency to it (indeed, anyone reading last week could be forgiven for forgetting that there was supposed to be a giant monster stomping around the place). Here the action and the talking are working hand in hand properly for the first time throughout the comic. And it's about time. If the series had had this sort of pace from the start, it would have been over in six issues.
Nice to see Livio get to draw some of the nuts widescreen stuff that more suits his talents as well, the I AM OPTIMUS PRIME bit was cheesier than an unwashed penis but still worked pretty well.
The main bad point was Bumblebee continuing to deserve a horrible death. I mean, this was what, the forth time he's had a "Stepping up to the plate" moment since he became leader back in the Costa days? And personally, I don't associate "Trying to throttle your second in command" with "Becoming an appropriate Autobot leader", I can't see Optimus Prime, or even cartoon Rodimus doing that to anyone for the heinous crime of being... well sensible.
No, that's more the sort of thing cartoon Megatron would do to Starscream. Word to the wise Bumblebee: If you want to be a good Autobot leader, just try to be less like Megatron than Megatron is being. That's a place to start from.
A more minor niggle, but at this is no less that the third time Nova and the Dead Universe have been finished off it was hard to care that much as no doubt he'll be back again in two years. And I still don't know how to reconcile his stated aim of making the Universe like Cybertron and unleashing the Dead Universe upon it.
Still, overall good enough for me to be actually confident we'll be heading into a much better final than I'd have expected at the start of the year.

An announcement from Roberts:
http://tformers.com/james-roberts-annou ... /news.html
Okay so here's the thing. If any other writer made this announcement I'd be like "So? Bluestreak? Big deal."
But because it's James I'm like "Yes!" And I don't even care about Bluestreak.
That's James. He makes you salivate over second and third stringers. If he were a weather man I'd watch the Weather Channel all day.

Argh, I'm even torn over this. 'Cause James wanted Bluestreak from the very beginning as a motormouth character who ran a bar. When theat didn't work out, he made do with the characters available to him, meaning that we got Swerve.
Can't help thinking that the addition of Bluestreak will mean less Swerve :/

nah, it'll just mean added [composite word including 'f*ck'] getting murdered gangster style a la "Man of Iron"
