Oo-er. Poor Tailgate, it's really not looking good. I love the way he ran to Cyclonus to tell him. Nice mention of Spoke and Lockstock again, but I think the big question has to be where is Rodimus and who is he talking to?

Milne's use of light and shadow is getting a lot better. I've loved his detail but wanted more depth for a long time.

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Yea I don't even know where to begin. Seriously I don't. The pathos, the character developments, the action, the art, the plot threads all coming together, the BIG REVEAL HOLY CRAP MOMENT(S) OF PANTS WETTING AWESOMENESS.Metal Vendetta wrote:Jesus titty-****ing Christ, if you haven't read this, GO AND READ IT NOW.
I'll come back when we're all caught up. This is ****ing awesome.
I just may faint.
To paraphrase Ghostbusters, I'm entertained beyond the capacity for rational thought.
Edit -
SPOILERS
In an issue full of awesome, I think I enjoyed the Cyclonus elements the best. The way Milne draws Cyclonus also wins massive points.
Also did anyone else notice the ED-209 figure in Brainstorm's lab?

Milne owned this. It's like he's achieved the comic artist equivalent of super saiyan!
Awesome issue. Roberts back on top form. The bit where the 1984 bots rise above Skids in the oil reserve is just ~~ HOLY COW ~~~

I have two reactions:
1- Hey, I recognize this. This is, give or take some nostalgia or memory degradation, EXACTLY how I felt when I first saw Thunderwing step out of the shuttle holding the Matrix in Matrix Quest #4. Or how I felt when Unicron "heard" at the end of Primal Scream. Or pretty much any time leading up to On The Edge of Extinction.
2- WHAT THE MASTERFUL [composite word including 'f*ck'] WAS I THINKING? I just had to buy this one the day it came out? We were on a resting point! I could have lived without knowing what happened. Instead, I bought it the day it came out and I have to wait Every. Single. Day. of the next month for the next part!

I'm just a little worried. If the sparks were all "Fertilised" the moment they stepped onto the surface, doesn't that mean they were all exposed to the first flash of Brainstorm's pet point one percenter?
Still hoping they'll discover they can cure Tailgate with an infusion of ununium they find there, and give him an awesome ultra indestructible body. One as "Super unvincible" as Whirl is convinced he is.

They've not been referred to by name in the comics but solicits and sketches in the TPB refer to them as the "Legislators". It's been hinted that "nineteen eighty-four" refers to the section of the Autobot Code that deals with Thought Warfare, whatever that is, but only Tailgate knows this.Impactor returns 2.0 wrote:Who are these robots, and whats with tye numbers they keep chanting?

Also, taking skids leads to bad things. Much like taking Cake.

Just while I'm drooling over the artwork, Josh goes and posts this:

That's incredible!
On the robots: wild theory time.
Pharma has been involved in the seeding of these sparks from the beginning, to try and create a race of superformers--maybe even a kind of IDW-ization of Generation 2's "superior" splitoffs.
Does that make the 1984 bots some kind of protector? Something Skids developed that turned on him?

Another great issue. Has there even been a weak issue yet?
I think this series is starting to turn heads amongst the non-TF comic readers now, it's so good.
Someone remind me about two things:
1.) Who is Ambus again? Wasn't he a friend or something to Rewind or Chromedome, one of them conjunx whatchacallits? I seem to recall he discovered something and achieved something great, but can't remember what it was.
2) Where's the Matrix for real? Rodimus has the shell which is that star map thing, right? So what happened to the Matrix itself, or do we not know that yet?
This is going to be one hell of a five-parter. Can't wait! I was surprised to see Pharma back in the thick of things so soon.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.
On Anbus:
He was Rewind's first 'significant other' before Chromedome. He was instrumental in introducing equal rights for the 'functional class' bots (like Rewind). He was searching for a cure for cybercorosis (Tailgate's current terminal ailment) when the war broke out. He disappeared during the war - Rewind was searching morgues for him when he met Chromedome.
On the matrix:
As I understand it Optimus gave both Rodimus and Bee half of the 'core' each. So yes technically Rodimus is carrying part of the matrix, albeit it's no longer charged with the cosmic / spiritual energies.

Good thing Pharma's about then, since he'd be dead in a week from burning out his transformation cog without a steady supply of replacements...Computron wrote:So a theory I read on IDW's board is that the superspark Brainstorm found may end up becoming Quickswitch. It would tie up that secret Autobot plan to get themselves a Phase Sixer.

Re: MTMTE #17 preview (spoilers, natch)
Cattleprod over at IDW pointed out that this dude who calls himself "Ambus" may not be the same dude as Dominus Ambus, given his different colour scheme. After all, we don't assume that Pious Maximus and Fortress Maximus are the same person, nor Delta Magnus (though we've not seen him yet) and Ultra Magnus. Could be that this is a new member of the "Ambus family". Then again, I just got to thinking what it might mean if Pious and Fortress *are* the same dude, which would have some fairly epic implications.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!
