There's a bonkers Brawn and a sneaky Starscream (not to mention a ravaged Ravage) is the début of young Simon Furman in The Enemy Within! Part 1:

Will Brawn's white flag save him from certain doom? And is Planet Terry really that bad (Clue: It is). In The Enemy Within Part 4:

Issue 17! Almost didn't post it in this thread as my opening thoughts do deal with my reaction to some of the Regeneration One discussion here (and even a few hours later I do wonder if what I've written is full of crap. I will take this chance to say I think I misunderstood what Snarl was saying at the very least), but it did feel a bit hypocritical to have done a blog that includes some ranting about this place (though not entirely about just here, I've run into at least one very defensive person of the current comic at the Archive as well, maybe it is me?) without posting the link within this thread so people have the chance to say "Bollocks" if they wish.

Most of the entry though is about the surprisingly good final five pages of Enemy Within!:

I'm glad you picked up on the Ravage-Megatron relationship as that was always one of my favourite aspects of the Marvel run - that Ravage had this genuine loyalty towards Megatron, something that can be seen not only in later stories (such as State Games) but even in the first US issue. It even makes sense of Ravage's behaviour in Beast Wars, although that's the continuity welder coming out in me.

Thoroughly enjoying the blog, as you might tell!

Though I've always viewed Beast Wars as very much a cartoon continuation first and foremost, it is one where the showrunners were happy to drop all sorts of references into it and use anything and eveything as a launching point (mainly- by their own admission- because they weren't terribly bothered by continuity, or even aware of it most of the time) so I'd more than agree the chatty loyal BW Ravage was very much inspired by the Marvel one.

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Pleasure! I've only recently been lured back into the clutches of Transformerdom (a word that Google spellcheck clearly hates) thanks to James Roberts and More than Meets the Eye, and your blog has been a wonderful reminder of why I got into Transformers in the first place.

Regarding Beast Wars, it's the old TMUKer in me, and drawing plot points across continuities. For instance, doesn't it make more sense for Starscream to have an "immortal" spark if at some time he's possessed both the Underbase and the Matrix...?

It's a dark, long rabbit hole...

Down which we've all fallen down at one time or another.

Issue 18 sees the start of the story Furman would rather we all forgot (though oddly the idea of lots of Arks would be reused in his IDW work and Auntie has just popped up again in Regen One). Is it really that bad?

It is.

Though Optimus being ****** off to the max in a completely out of character way for the Marvel version is strangely entertaining.

Issue 19: In which I spend more time putting the boot into crazy transsexual Arcee and imagining Megatron's ass than I do talking about the amazing adventures of Auntie:

Things I didn't realise till this week:

Matt and the Cat and the Chromobots are written and drawn by the same person. How did he manage to get not one but two ***** strips into the book?

All in the third part of Raiders:

The greatest and most exciting moment in all Transformers history as Marc Singer faces off against Shockwave. Can the internet contain the excitment?

[I think this is the only place online you'll get to see both pages that were doctored with an image from proper V in their full cheesy glory as well]
