Hey gents.
long time
Grand showdown, big battle etc.
I know its about showcasing how the autobots/humans (emphasis on humans) together against the decepticons.
but still could not the autobots maybe gotten another 20-30 bots as reinforcements for the second half of the movie?
The scene where they arrive after being thought dead would have been an excellent time to showcase a reserve squad of troops they kept hidden for an emergency situation like this. An ace in the hole.
Or hey when they transport cybertron, they also bring in some autobot reinforcements.
Either way. Anyone have any idea why bay decided to have so few autobots in comparison to the deceps.

Bay fans never want to hear this in my experience, but I think Bay wanted the transformers to be evil by nature with the Autobots being the rare deviants. Look at how the marketing/appliance-bots came to life and immediately started chasing people.
"But Hot Shot, they were reverse-engineered from Megatron. That's why they're evil!"
Really? Then tell me what part of that makes sense.
"Well, okay. Then they were feral! They were scared and it was self defense!"
Uh-huh. Then why did they chase and attack the humans fleeing from them, rather than run away themselves?
"Because animals don't run away when they're scared!"
Yeah, whatever.

It's established within the movies that this is just a ragtag bunch of Autobots who happen to have found their way to Earth. The others ain't here yet.
Yes, there could have been more on Cybertron, but it didn't come through enough for that the become relevant.
In the first movie, there are X Autobots on Earth. Prime sends out a signal inviting others to join him here. In the second one, there are Y Autobots on Earth.
By Dark of the Moon, we have Z Autobots based on Earth. Suddenly it's revealed that there's been an army of Decepticons hiding away on the moon since the 60s. The only hidden cache of Autobots stashed away on Earth was the Wreckers.
You can't just whip back a curtain and go "haha - as it happens, we've been lying to everybody, a hundred more Autobots turned up without anybody noticing and we've just never mentioned it." That would really be ****.
Ok, it would have "wow factor", but when you stop to consider it, it would just make zero sense. And there's enough of that in the Movies as it is.

It's like that rule where you can have a movie with vampires, or a movie with aliens, but not a movie with vampires and aliens. Cos that would be silly. Too much suspension of disbelief.Ok, it would have "wow factor", but when you stop to consider it, it would just make zero sense. And there's enough of that in the Movies as it is.
You probably could have a movie with vampires and aliens in, but it would need some delicate structuring for the narrative to hold-up without descending into either a procession of pointless set pieces or a mire of dull exposition. Or swinging back and forth between the two.
... how did those IDW Infestation comics turn out in the end?

On second thoughts, screw the nuanced narrative- you drop some cowboys and Zombie Nazis(TM) into that and you've got yourself a screenwriter gig!Brendocon wrote:You probably could have a movie with vampires and aliens in, but it would need some delicate structuring for the narrative to hold-up without descending into either a procession of pointless set pieces or a mire of dull exposition. Rob Schneider IS The Stapler.
Anyway, if your largest complaint against the movies is that there weren't enough Autobots, that must be nice.

My complaint was that there were not enough explosions, robot-testes, or enough shiny stuff sprayed on the girl's skin to make it shiny.Shanti418 wrote:Rob Schneider IS The Stapler.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

In fact, prior to the first movie, they made a point of saying how ridiculous the notion of them having spaceships was.Best First wrote:My complaint is that in the first move they didn't bother with spaceships but in the last movie they DID bother with spaceships.
Then had them in the third one.
"They can turn into transport - why would they need ships??"
"I can walk. Why the [composite word including 'f*ck'] do I need a car?"

I think the Ark actually makes sense in the context of the film, who is going to want to carry a hugely dangerous experimental weapon about in their arse?
The Decepticons on the moon having apparently sat there through the previous two movies without any thought of flying down to Earth to help out is more of a problem, especially as, if the Fallen had been successful, the moon would have been destroyed along with the rest of the solar system anyway so it's not as if hanging about up there was a good long term career plan. You can handwave it a bit in that we never get concrete proof all the Transformers can turn spaceships, even if that seems a bit at odds with their casual alt form changing.
