Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #03 (SPOILERS)
Moderators:Best First, spiderfrommars, IronHide
Another strong issue from Roberts. More stand-alone than 2&3 but continuing the themes.
The sheer amount of stuff he packs into this issue is astounding. From what I can tell we at least get the following: *spoilers*
.
.
.
.
Back story for Shock and Ore and a hint at their relationship with Prowl. Kinda saw this coming but I suspect there are more twists and turns to come.
Acknowledgement of conflict between some of the Lost Light Autobots and Cyclonus.
Cyclonus and Tailgate's connection explored. Cyclonus somewhat goading Tailgate and his subsequent decision re faction.
Revelation of Chromedome's 'talent'. Understandable why Prowl didn't want to loss him.
Skids memory loss motivating his cavalier actions.
Trailbreaker being unable to sustain his forcefield (at least that was my interpretation, possibly a result of his Chaos injuries).
Swerve lamenting on what life would have been like without war (this was really cute).
Brainstorm is still carrying around his suitcase.
Growing conflict between Ultra Magnus and Rodimus. Rodimus is really becoming full of himself, and the hints at Drift's part in this.
It's a long time since I've felt a comic was 'value for money', especially Transformers comics, but this hits all the right spots. There is plenty of humour, but with the depth of characterisation and the number of plot threads on show, it doesn't take over.

One thing I didn't quite get that maybe someone can clear up for me. Ratchet said the Sparkeater would go after the brightest spark and Hotrod had a hunch it would go after Rung. Why Rung? Am I missing something? Why would Rung have the brightest spark of all of them?
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.
I thought he was talking about himself.Yaya wrote:One thing I didn't quite get that maybe someone can clear up for me. I feel like I'm the only one not getting blown away by this.
It's good - a darn sight better than anything Cost & McCarthy dished up - but I'm finding each issue a little anti-climatic.
I think it's the constant wise-cracking that grates with me - every character is a wannabe comedian! It really takes the edge of the suspense, quite in contrast to LSOTW, where the peril of the situation really came through in the dialogue.

Indeed it was.Best First wrote:Hotrod's hunch was that hye would come for him, Skids intervened in Rung's favour and then they headed to the engine rooms.
It did seem to go for him once Rung was out of the picture tho'... So I guess he'll be half-right?
The reason why he's got a bright spark is no doubt because he's been connected to the Matrix, and as we all know, he may one day become a Prime.
Now, Rung however... Could the reason why he has a bright spark... be because he's the only one on the ship that's never scrapped someone? I get the feeling that maybe that's the reason. Perhaps not even scrapped - he doesn't seem to have ever even punched another bot.
In comparison, I'd wager the semi-un-dead Cyclonus, who's killed more people than he's had breakfeast, probably has a spark of the more... shall we say, DIM kind?
