It's that time again....

Over the last 25 years the Transformers have appeared in media from the exquisite to the scribbled and been licensed to the responsible and the... Pat Lee. Discussion of all the branches of TF media within!

For Optimus Prime to die in the service of increasing comic sales!

Because some tired story beats just won't stay dead. I would imagine this will involve self-sacrifice, rebirth, and grandstanding.

The Roche cover kind of rubs me the wrong way with its liberal ignorance of proportions just to make Op into a cross. However, that homage to the US #1 cover at the bottom of the page? Totally sweet.

I assumed it was an homage to TFUK #150.

Given the caliber of talent involved, I hope this is a figurative death and not a literal one. At this point, tho', I don't care as much as I might have once.
For now, it seems like IDW wants my money.

Ah! Indeed that is probably the case, although again, I'm sure the biblical imagery is a little more than happenstance.

I'm interested to see what Roberts and Roche and even Barber do with the inevitable absence of Prime. Budiansky seemed to get worse without Prime and Megatron to anchor the series, and season 3 was occasionally great but mostly hampered by Rodimus's character.

I don't think we've ever seen a good Post-Prime continuity. If Roberts can make us forget everything that we saw Rodimus do under Costa's run...

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

To: [Autobots]
CC: Megatron
Subject: Corporate structure Changes
Message:

Dear Colleagues,

At this time of economic uncertainty organisations must gravitate to new, blue-sky structures in order to imagineer new avenues for growth and innovation.

As part of our long-standing commitment to our investors and shareholders it has been decided that there will be a top-down, management-driven evolution of our corporate structure.

Some of you may have been involved in previous structural changes (re Afterdeath, the Swarm, Unicron, fighting Megatron to 'The Touch', Unicron again, Quintessons, Humans, probably more Unicron, restoring the 'balance between the organic and the synthetic' etc). Rest assured that your managers have been kept completely informed and an entirely new senior leadership team has been assembled.

Rodimus will be here in about 20 minutes.

I know I can continue to count on you all to do your best in this time of great uncertainty whilst I feed myself into this woodchipper. For reasons that may become apparent later.

It has been a pleasure working with you all. Except you, Sunstreaker. And you, Rodimus.

I sincerely hope to be able to work with you all again soon. Hopefully no more than 2-3 weeks.

Love and kisses,

Optimus (Prime).
Supreme Commander.

We could register it and be like the 'Fake Steve Jobs' account! Nobody will know, they'll think it's the real Optimus Prime! :D
