TF Ongoing #25 Review (SPOILERS)

Sometimes, small scale stories featuring but a few characters doing simple things is nice. Prowl on an individual detective adventure might be something I could have enjoyed.
The key words here being "could have".
Because when the overall premise of the story is just so lameass, it's hard to really take pleasure out of it. It's like being at a tennis match while it's raining and the seats are all wet and it's muggy. You might enjoy the tennis, but for the life of you, can't get past your ass being wet and it being so uncomfortable.
The Decepticons have murdered millions. They have plundered and destroyed. They are at war with Earth. Can killing a mechanical monstrosity from outer space in cold oil that is responsible for these crimes, proudly displaying his Decepticon badge, really be that bad a thing? I mean, shouldn't everyone be giving each other high freakin fives when Spike impossibly killed Scrapper?
Instead, the Autobots, and their top leiutenents no less, have nothing better to do than to investigate the 'crime' of their number one ally on Earth who has assisted them through thick and thin when any person with a lick of sense would by this point call for the complete eradication of anything made of metal that's living.
Seriously Mike, of all the plot points to go back to, you go back to the one that incurred the most venom and ire of the fandom? And then drag capable characters like Prowl, Magnus, and Bumblebee back into it?
Ballsy, Mike. Ballsy.
Art was just meh to me. As was this comic. Give it a "D+" Utterly forgettable.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

First the positives – Streetwise! And... er... Streetwise!
Seriously, when was the last time he actually had some characterisation? Afterdeath?
Also Costa finally seems to have realised, through Jazz, that the idea that the war was over after AHM was a bad idea. Too little too late though.
But besides that I agree with the poster above. This issue taken on its own maybe isn't too bad, but I can't for the life of me understand why it's a problem he killed Scrapper (granted, I never bought that issue so not sure if it was in cold blood or not, but still...) nor can I fathom the relationship between the Autobots and Skywatch, or indeed the relationship amongst the Autobots – Magnus talking down to Prowl, for instance (I thought Bumblebee was still in charge?).

Got it with my standing order. Handed it right back to them. Seems my instincts were right on this one. Nothing good can come of stories set on earth.

having seen his response on the comments thread on the IDW site i doubt it - it's all subjective maaaaan.Professor Smooth wrote:Do you suppose that, after the great reaction to previous issues, Mr. Costa felt a sense of knowing dread as the release of #25 loomed?
Total load of bum jam for the reasons Yaya articulates, plus the usual flaws of bad characterisation to drive the plot and totally random background appearances.

I didn't understand a word of this. I guess it's picking up on previous issues, but I was bored by story, art, and of course, the gripping thread of how many women Spike is banging.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Lesse: about 20 pages where nobody changes expression, Magnus is still a douche, Jazz is annoyed/depressed/hungry/gassy/whatever, Prowl is obviously short on actual work to be busy with and humans come and go like sillhouetted cats investigating a bowl of food they have no intention of eating.
zzzz.
