Transformers Ongoing #24 (Probable Spoilers)

The art in this thing is, if not the best from IDW, then certainly up there, alongside E.J.'s Revelation issue.

For that alone, it's worth buying. Loved the panel with Galvatron grabbing onto Cyclonus, who is finally back to his badass status. Say it with me folks. Heart of Darnkess never happened. Heart of Darkness never happened.

The story is okay. Obviously, a step down from the last two issues, but a step in to right direction away from the duldrums that we've had on Earth.

One thing I don't get is how everyone can be as forgiving as they are towards Sunstreaker. Sure, he redeemed himself, but he is also guilty of treason which resulted in the almost complete annihilation of the Autobot forces. Small misstep? Hardly.

Give it an "B+", mainly for the art. Wow, just gorgeous stuff. Little light in the story department, but a decent kickoff to Chaos, I would say.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

I think the thing about being forgiving sunstreaker is in part a "Let's pretend AHM never happened"

And yet, there's Drift. Hold on... Prime: Red. Ironhide: Red. Rodimus: Red. Cliffjumper: Red.

Hey, wait a sec. In the land of the Red Shirts, wouldn't he who ISN'T red be the odd man out...

Having read the whole thing, I honestly think the art is double-edged. I can't make out any of the action sequences, only presume based on the next panel what happened. The static shots are lovely, but it just doesn't work for anything involving character movement IMO.

Am I right in assuming there are a load of one-shot and tangental comics that explain how Ironhide came back after being killed, why Galvatron is living it up on Cybertron etc.? I've read all the ongoings now but don't recall that being explained.

The dialog is utter nonsense.

Galvatron has a plan! How do we know? He's evil. Yes, evil. And insane. But clever also. With an army he may be dangerous too. But evil as well. Because he has some plan. Which even his own army may not know! Because he's clever! With a plan!

I can appreciate the art, because it is beautiful, but the drop in writing is physically painful. Ouch.

Dunno if IDW's Galvatron was ever really good in the classic sense we know and love. He was subordinate to Nemesis Prime, a kind of weird death-cult freak in love with the Darkness, and he's been written as a kind of extended religious nut ever since. I'd like to see more personality on him. The Marvel Galvatrons had a lot of megalomaniacal personality. Should be cool to see him back in #81, raving and babbling again.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Amazing art, I found it (the art) followable.

The writing... not complete ****, but a bit AIDS.

Agree with both the complaints and praise for the art. Hard to follow in places and not suited to action scenes, but very pretty in other spots. The story was rather a letdown after last issue's. James could write vignettes from Cybertron's history for the next 200 years and I would be entertained.
