I loved this series. It's five stand-alone stories that are joined together mostly by the Simmons family. It tells of some of the major exploits of Sector 7 from the discovery of Megatron in the late 1890's to Megatron's transport to the Hoover Dam in the mid 1940's. It leads into Alan Dean Foster's (terrible) "Ghosts of Yesterday" novel which, itself, serves as a prequel to both the live action Transformers movie and Dark of the Moon.
Jetfire appears throughout the book and receives some much needed development.
This series is just a lot of fun. It provides a lot of (non fan-wanky) backstory for the Transformers movie Universe. It gave, to me at least, a greater appreciation of the movies.
I guess there's a bit of cross-over with Tales of the Fallen, so that's going to be next on my reading list.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.
