I gave up after Revelation, so in a sense I am living the dream.Best First wrote:Get rid of everything after Revelation, including LSOTW
Should I buy the Wreckers TPB?

I would get rid of everything, even at the cost of LSOTW. I want my two years back.
With the corollary that Revelations goes too. Revelations was a rush job and I would have preferred Furman finish out what he started the way he intended (though likely it would have been in the usual anti-climatic fashion he has concluded his arcs with the past decade.)
Then, knowing what I know now about Rocherts, I would have given them the ongoing, or at least to one of those two guys.
I mean, looking back since Revelations, besides LSOTW, that Prowl bit by Roche, and the ongoing #4 with TC, there hasn't been much to write home about. I remember there was one issue of AHM I really liked, but I can't remember which. Which itself tells me it probably wasn't as good as I thought.
I bet IDW also wishes they could start back at Revelations.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

That's a difficult decision for me. I'd be given the option of taking the really bad with one of my favorite TF books, or have a steady stream of minis ranging from upper-mediocre to good.
I guess I'd give up Wreckers for the old continuity. It was only a matter of time until Roche got more writing duties, anyway.

I can rationalize in my head that EJ would have painted the real end to Furman's arc anyway.Best First wrote:JaJa raises a good point about Revelations, although while i can sacrifice LSOTW i am not sure i can sacrifice fully painted EJ Su goodness.
Hmm.

I'm more for ditching the guff and keeping LSOTW. I mean the references to the distaster known as AHM are vague anyway.
My solution would be for the so called 'purge' to come after the Decepticons were exposed and defeated on Earth by Prowl's team and the (new) Wreckers. Prior to said exposure and defeat, the Decepticon milk the occasion as Earth's saviours after defeating the Reapers and subtily controlling everything from behind the scenes in the story 'Invasion'. The exposure and defeat coming in 'Salvation'. All written by Simon Furman with art by EJ Su and Nick Roche.
(Ripping off Terminator? Nah. )
As for the traitor, surely Dealer in a 'My-death-is-only-the-beginning' plot with the Decepticon secret service would be the perfect candidate. After all, news of Dealer's betrayal would either be subject of rumour or becoming well known after the events at Ki-Aleta.
How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Personally... I really liked Wreckers. Shattered my trousers and then framed the trousers liked it.
My attitude is kind of that life sucks, kicks you in the nuts, gives you hope, kicks you in the nuts again. Your ex dates your best friend. Your favorite comic is always going to get canceled. Your penis really is smaller than everyone else's. So on and so on. So I'll take what I can get because the alternative might not be as good as I hope.

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

It does feel like that sometimes.
So I'll probably nick that and pretend I thought of it.
I might take some flak for this, but as good as LSOTW was, it wasn't perfect. I actually preferred Nick's Prowl and Kup stories more, as the writing seemed more calculated and controlled in these spotlights. Also enjoyed Furman's Shockwave spotlight more. Last Stand was quite manic. Which I think is fine, as it shows Nick can write in different ways.
One thing is certain. Rocherts were both able to achieve better characterization in the midst of a bloodbath of a story than McCarthy or Costa have been able to achieve in a decompressed year of drawn out story telling where action is sparse.

If the idea is we rewind and let Furman continue, I guess I'd go with that. If the idea is we simply rid the world of AHM and the Ongoing and stick with what we had up to Devastation/Revelation, everything thereafter cancelled ... nah. What would we have to talk about and hope for?

Re: WOULD YOU RATHER...
I'd take Wreckers over anything else in the continuity, regardless of what else came along for the ride. Furman offered a decent beginning, but editing that allows for most of strong material to be hived off from the main book has been a problem all of the way through.Best First wrote:Get rid of everything after Revelation, including LSOTW
