Armada/Energon vs. G1

Post by bobaprime85 » Thu Jul 29, 2004 11:23 pm

Well, the ongoing G1 series has finally managed to complete it's first storyarc, which has been loudly praised by some, derided by others. Energon looks to be finding its feet with the latest issue, so does the Armada/Energon franchise still dominate in terms of story quality? Or has it been usurped by G1? Or is choice number four the correct one?

I'll stick with the spirit of the question and start rocking the Armada/Energon vote.

World's Collide bitches! G1 has nothin' on that!

I've voted for War Within. However, with my latest batch of comics, I read the Energon one before the G1, which probably suggests where my loyalty lies.

Y'know, it really is interesting that, despite the various amounts of criticism we heap upon him, Furman remains our source for half-decent TF material. And yes I voted for Armada/Energon. Figures that the secondary book would be the one I look forward to each month, rather than the flagship title.

Armada/Energon (well, Armada anyway) had very good stories, while G1 was at best enjoyable, but still average.

But I prefer War Within to both of them. :)

I'm assured that people will stop praising Brad/James as soon as Don leaves the comic... some of the reviews I read were mostly about the art, not the story!

ARmada started out mediocre, then got great with the Moonbase arc, and superb with the World's Collide. Now in Energon, I think I can say Simon finally started 'liking' the new characters, something which is esential for him to write characters in a good way. It's not like the Marvel saga, but it' could be great on it's own, especially if Cybertron, the next series doesn'T reduce the previous cast like Energon did.

Is Cybertron happening in 2005? Because from what I read, Furman has plans up to Energon #32/33, and I wonder if he took that into consideration.

Wait.....what? There's going to be another reboot? I gotta get out from under my rock more. Does anyone know any details?

Nope its an continuation of Energon.

By which I mean it's the same characters, the same situations, the same stories etc. etc. ad nauseum without even the vague interest of some new gimmick.

although I am crossing my fingers for an automatically dust-gathering 'Dust Master Prime'!

Three things I know:

A: It's beginning in 2005 late summer.

B: Many characters who 'dissappeared' in Energon will return (like REd Alert, Scavenger, Hoist, Wheeljack, etc.)

C: Hasbro realised people like Mini-Cons (DUH) so there will be more in Cybertron.
