... what do we do about AHM? I wanted to pretend it didn't happen, but if it's going to turn out to bridge the gap between two good storylines, is there an abbreviated version of it which could be used? At the moment, I'm thinking just issue 8.
By the way, DJT has confirmed that the writer of the ongoing will be neither McCarthy, nor Furman. We've got at least a shot at a good writer.

Sweet! That's good news. Scary, but good.Jack Cade wrote: By the way, DJT has confirmed that the writer of the ongoing will be neither McCarthy, nor Furman. We've got at least a shot at a good writer.
Thus far, I don't think AHM has really impacted continuity much at all, save for Sunstreaker. Really, if you wanted to, you could quite easily pretend it never happened if you wanted to. At least so far. Something big will likely happen at the end with Megatron.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

It's Nick Roche!Jack Cade wrote:By the way, DJT has confirmed that the writer of the ongoing will be neither McCarthy, nor Furman. We've got at least a shot at a good writer.
No, just kidding. It's me.
It's going to be James McDonough isn't it?

Furman posted some details on Coda on his blog. He's writing a 11-page flasback comic about OP and Ironhide, and what history those two have together...
... NO, not in THAT way.

AHM and the editorial stance that came with it has completely sucked away all the enthusiasm I had for Transformers comics. I expect Max Dinos 5 to be the last issue I get, unless Furman revisits his Dead Universe/Galvatron storyline or the ongoing turns out to be something amazing, which I really can't see given the road IDW seem to be currently driving down.
Really, we should have had an ongoing three years ago. It's the old cliche of shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

This is how I feel. It's been difficult for me to enjoy Maximum Dinobots after all that's happened over these past few months. Instead of anticipating Max. Dinos #5 for the read, I find myself anticipating it so I can be done with IDW.NeoSpringer wrote:AHM and the editorial stance that came with it has completely sucked away all the enthusiasm I had for Transformers comics. If Animated is over after season 3 like rumor has it, and the next cartoon is awful/movie-based, I'll probably take a break from TF fiction until the pastures get greener.

I want to be optimistic - and I am hopeful - but yeah. What with McCarthy reading like a 'needs to take classes' writer, Holmes before him, Knowler and Van Reyk invited on board (albeit that they made a very competent effort) and now DJT himself co-writing Spotlight: Cliffjumper, IDW's current editorial policy feels a lot like: "Hell, anyone can have a go if they catch us at the right moment."
Were it the Jazz boys on their own (and had I not been suspicious of the circumstances), I might have said 'good on IDW for opening the door'. After all, it's hard enough for talented writers to get a break these days. But at the moment, in all honesty, it just makes me feel like the editors have no idea what makes a writer good or bad and are just going by trial and error. Maybe the next guy will be a novelist? Or a stuntman? Or Ryall's little brother?

That's one thing, but the other for me is the atittitude that seems to come with it. When such suggestions are made the editorial response is one of derision for not jumping on boad the happy train.
I've got little time for folk who are great when things are great but then show there bad side as soon as something does not get an overwhelmingly positive response.

Obviously I feel similarly, although part of that is just to do with policing their board. Forum moderators/bosses who can't seem to marry up how they act with how they demand others act aren't, unfortunately, confined to twitchy creative types.Best First wrote:That's one thing, but the other for me is the atittitude that seems to come with it.
(Although it's a real wtf moment to see DJT demand 'respect' be shown in the same breath as categorising other people's posts as 'nonsense').

It's one of the reasons I fled the IDW boards. If I paid my money I have the right to criticise if it's not up to snuff. Something EIC Chris Ryall has stated himself in the past.
No idea who the new writer will be, but given how terrible AHM has been I have no real interest in what comes after Maximum Dinobots.

I may well pick up an issue when the mysterious new writers take the helm... (still betting on Pat Lee myself )
But the neutering of Revelation and the total lobotomy that is AHM has turned me off of IDW... Mr F's Max Dino's has thankfully kept me going, but the future is looking bleak at the moment.

Well, at least with Animated and Classics ending, and me having absolutely no interest in the Movie toys (except some of the Scout class toys), I'll be able to concentrate on upgrading my G1 collection now...

An ironic coincidence, yes?
