The recent cullings in TF:A and AHM have caused me to realise that few, if any, of my favourite Transformers have come through all the various media without being 'killed' at some point.
Sunstreaker, of course, has already been brutally eviscerated by Shockwave, although I suppose he was never technically dead. He certainly seems to have bought it this time.
Bumbebee's been down and out at the hands of Death's Head.
Prowl and Ratchet - massacre of '86.
Red Alert - uncharacteristic G2 heroism.
Even Guzzle (for whom I have some affection because I loved the toy) met a 'smashed Lego' end in one of them future tales. Same with all the Throttlebots, during the Underbase saga.
Have there been any survivors at all?

Killed and brought back -as a redeco- in HeadmastersSoundwave?
Beheaded in Spotlight Mirage
He was deactivated up until the great battle with Unicron in Marvel US 75.Sunstreaker, of course, has already been brutally eviscerated by Shockwave, although I suppose he was never technically dead. He certainly seems to have bought it this time.

Yeah Guzzle buys it in Rythems of Darkness.
Man i love Guzzle.
Pipes, who i have similar affection for, does not buy it anywhere that i am aware of.
Basically i think if you are a bit obscure you have a better chance.
Hmm - Clifffjumper? Trailbreaker? Tracks? Hoist? Grimlock?
Hang on Grimmers dies in Alignment doesn't he?
I guess in the UK annual story Peace it is basically implied that every con buys it - so that's all of them ruled out!
What about best death? I vote Shockers at the hands of DH - no sense of doubt left in that one.

Dinobots, excluding Grimlock, maybe? Afair the only time they weren't fully operational was just before the nucleon story and noone considered them to be dead then.
Ratchet is said to bring Grimlock back from the dead as a pretender (among Bumblebee and Jazz) sometime during the Marvel run.Best First wrote:Grimlock?

Grimlock: dare I say War Within 3? Noone knows for certain what happened there. At least noone I am aware of ever got to see the end of that series.
The fact that it was am Impactor knockoff death doesnt detract from the fact that he got owned.

Good one, but the best death was Scrounge in the Smelting Pool.Best First wrote: What about best death? I vote Shockers at the hands of DH - no sense of doubt left in that one.
Followed by Starscream in the movie at the hands of Galvatron. No coming back from that one. Wait! He did come back. As a ghost. A freakin TF ghost!
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

always wondered about that. He gets blown to pieces and put back together like a giant Humpty Dumpty with a 'yes we can" attitude, and yet prime takes one to the chest and is toast.bumblemusprime wrote:There was that little "Sweeps! Terminate him!" moment.snarl wrote:Did Ultra Magnus ever die?
Hell Prowl got aced with a regular blast.

Yeah, imagine his shock when he didn't just fall over and get up again.
Fair point on Scorpy - i may have to reasses that one.
Edit - actually, as much as its pretty implicit that more or less every con is dead in 'Peace' the same is true of the Autobot's in Rythems of Darkness isn't it?
Still not happy that Inferno gets killed by having a freaking building dropped on his head in G2.

Woah, it feels like I've inadvertently wandered into a Transfans thread circa 2002...
Scourge got him in Target 2006.
Hmmm, this has put me in the mood to read some old TF comics...
Looked pretty dead at the end of Time Wars.snarl wrote:Did Ultra Magnus ever die?
Got blasted in the Underbase saga.snarl wrote:Soundwave?

Skids maybe? Although he did spend a period in Limbo
Underbase, again!Best First wrote:Hoist? Grimlock?

Heh, he was dead for frickin' ages. Taken out in only the fourth ever story. When he came back in Perchance to Dream it was a pretty big deal.Jack Cade wrote:Sunstreaker, of course, has already been brutally eviscerated by Shockwave, although I suppose he was never technically dead.

That's because Ultra Magnus is hardcore, whilst Prime's a little girl who dies on a regular basis.
I mean seriously, even before TF:TM he'd already been killed through his own stupidity ("hey! the cool kids have guns!") and gone missing without explanation for four million years. It's no real wonder that Elita One wasn't too cut-up when he died fighting Megatron.
And that's just in the cartoon!
Seriously, back on Cybertron they likely held funerals for him every time he fell over.
... where the [composite word including 'f*ck'] was I? Right, yeah.
Grimlock? Grimlock's unkilled surely? Even to the point where he survived the downgrade and lived on as a Maximal.
Though IDW do plonk him back on Cybertron in time for Megatron's BM cull. :/
And, for the record, Flywheels faked his death in Time Wars.
[EDIT] READ THE THREAD BREND. How did he end up a Pretender? I recall not...
Hell yeah bitch.Rebis wrote:Did Hubcap ever appear in any media?Brendocon wrote:Hubcap?
Hubcap's awesome.
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Hubcap#Fiction
Dog-powered Flying Minibot-combination DRILL ATTACK. All over your face.
Er but yeah. He was the only toy from the first three years (Powerdashers and Minispies aside) to appear in neither the Sunbow toon nor the Marvel comic.
NEVER DIED.
Didn't Tailgate get stepped on by Trypticon in Five Faces of Darkness? Or was that Swerve? Can't recall the demise of Tailgate nor of Outback.
IDW Outback got iced off-page prior to Spotlight Kup.

Too much information?
Is it me or do transformers receive some of the most brutal deaths going in a "toyline aimed at kids"?
Imagine the ol'movie with live action actors? It would've been more violent then the average horror movie!
Even in the live action movie, Jazz got ripped in two.

It was slightly pre-Time Wars, when Megs was still Shockwave's pawn. Or do you mean Topspin's decapitation?Impactor returns 2.0 wrote:cyclonus losing his head to megs is pretty standout in time wars.
That was Inferno. Smokescreen, in a titular moment, was sent through the windscreen of that shuttle by a dying Inferno shortly prior to that.forgive my memory, but is in smokescreen going down in a shutlle and taking a few cons with him in legacy of unicron?
Executed by Cyclonus & Scourge in Rhythms of Darkness.stranger wrote:The only one I can think of is Kup. He didn't kick the bucket in the Marvel run if I recall correctly, and in the cartoon he buggered off to find a new planet with Rodimus and Blurr.
Infact - I can't remember seeing him killed in any media thus far...
Also, in the as-yet unpublished AHM: Coda, Kup will be shown to eventually die from lung cancer, courtesy of McCarthy's Cigars. Mmmm. Smell that woodbine!
