Congrats on the writing gig, but frankly I can see nowt here to really get your knickers in a twist over.

There are some quite cutting remarks, all I'll say is don't take them too seriously it is just the way we roll over here - the vast majority of them are backed up with reasoning.

Well, not knowing 'how you roll' over here, you can see how I could take offence.

Dude has to have something pretty major on someone there.

How else can you explain the fact that he's allowed to post there, even though the majority of his posts consist of personal attacks and insults. Yet he's allowed to post there, but a guy who did provide examples and legitimate critiques got banned.

It's gotten to the stage of being so ridiculous it's funny. He's got a teflon coating for some unknown reason, and he damn well knows that.

Also odd that 95% of the time, his posts are followed within 5 minutes by posts from Dogbite12 agreeing with him.

It's a staggering coincidence.

Credit to Richter for the way he's handling the whole thing.

That thread over at IDW is a microcosm of the entire forum as far as I'm concerned - a bit of reactionary ZOMGing, followed by sensible rational people being sensible and rational, and then the whole thing descends into a cockwaving bitchfest for no discernable reason.

It both reminds me why I want to keep posting there, but also why I'm quite happy not doing. But then if all the sensible and worthwhile people keep signing up here (which they seem to be), then top banana ace job.

Also: Anybody unfamiliar with snarl - we've all been called a **** by him at some point or another. It's like his way of punching you in the arm then running back to his friends.

Might as well state here as well that I do think my earlier comments about ulterior motives, replete with ungracious animal comparisons, were unfair and I can understand Richter/Josh being offended by them. My main beef there was to do with the fact that when it comes out that someone you know has struck a good deal, you do wonder how far the negotiations, so to speak, go back - and against a background of tensions on the IDW board and the widely held feeling that moderation only kicks in when it's the critics taking the ramparts, it all looks a bit cosy.

There's that, and I know that people, particularly artists, with the best will in the world, do have a tendency towards nepotism. I had a friend who said, without irony, "It's an amazing coincidence that all my friends happen to be the writers I like best." It's not a game of 'wink wink, you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours', more like a bizarre syndrome no one thinks they have. Just look at the publicity for any film and note how all the actors gush about what a pleasure it was to work with the other actors and what a visionary the director is. So I think it's going to be a truism that if you keep your nose clean with the right people, they're far more likely to 'discover' you.

But I don't think the book is a cynical exercise or an expensive pat on the head. I'm sure IDW genuinely believe in the writers. My views, though previously badly phrased, are in a much greyer area than that.

Now what's the deal with Skwege? How did he get Sprunkner's number? Will this bout of insanity cause Dogbite to disassociate herself from him, seeing as she, as far as I can tell, is more interesting in hanging with her fangrrlz in ossum!-luvz-n'-hugz-chibi-world and keeping up with all the latest lulspeak?

The best thing about Dragonball, apart from when it was a modern update of Journey To The West, was that at one point a bald, noseless midget who had no luck the ladies was the strongest human alive. If that's not in the movie, then I'm not playing!

Ok, so in the interests of clarity and preventing any further threats of legal action can everyone who has suggsted that 'Skwege' is a Child Fiddler please state that they have no evidence that this is the case and they were making sarcastic insults towards someone they see as on online irritant rather than genuinely suggesting that this is true?

Because apparently this was not evident to some people.

Altho it seems we do have evidence that he is the kind of 'man' that thinks it appropriate to source contact details for and act threateningly towards someone's wife on the basis of some rough internet banter. What a guy.

Once again, this is somehting you know NOTHING about. No threats were made. Spencer wouldn't talk to me and decided to delegate it to his wife. There were no threats of violence, etc. In fact the officer wasn't too happy with Spencer, and lectured him in fact. Obviously Spencer won't admit to that, but he knows.
He's just pissy because his wife is probably making him sleep on the couch.

I have nothing to hide, I catalogued all messages and am more than willing to publicly disclose them.
