Yep, after years of dreaming about it, we Hungarian TF fans have finally organized our first TF meeting, aka HUNCON!
Set in Budapest on this Saturday (April 5.), and organized by our belowed God of Chaos, Unicron, there'll be quite a few people attending, not as many as we'd have liked, but then, a large part of the fandom doesn't live in Budapest.
Programs will include:
-A through guide to MISB and AFA collecting (and some AFA toy reviews) by our Megatron (followed by the ritual dismemberment of SW TF Luke )
-TF quiz by Darth Krande
-Kitbashing lessons from Unicron
-Toy reviews by Caine
-And, a little insight into the history and best moments of the Marvel UK comics by yours truly.
There'll also be (possibly) some TF trading and maybe we'll be awake long enough to get the torrent of the second part of 'Megatron Rising' from Animated and watch it together.
I'll try to take some photos, should anyone be interested. And of course, should anyone be around Budapest this weekend you're hereby invited!

Awesome, badass, and congratulations!
Sounds like it's going to be a fun time.
So where exactly in the program will the *ahem* Transfans plug come in?

Thanks!
Sadly most folks here have never read the UK comics (and only us old-schools read Marvel US) but I try my best to convert them to Furmanism...
Well, I'll be sure to mention Rebis' theories about the Marvel UK Galvatrons...Shanti418 wrote:Awesome, badass, and congratulations!

Well, sorry for not getting back to you about the event, I was busy with work the whole week...
Anyhow, here is a short summary of the first Huncon with photos!
Sadly many people couldn't attend as they don't live in Budapest, but most of the fans in the city could make it.
Arrival around 11AM: from left to right, Clio, Dzsee, FantasiTF, Caine and Darth Krande (I was 'fashionably late', of course...)
Then we started unpacking the stuff we brought - mostly curiosity items or Transformers that are pretty rare in Hungary (yes, apart from Ultra Magnus and TWW Megs there were no Titanium toys ever sold here, sadly).
From left to right: Darth Krande, Superion (trying to transform Alternator Shockblast, more about this later... ), Dzsee, Shiroryu, Zozzy, Clio and Grimlock (at least a part of him...)
We began the meeting (after setting up the computer and projector) with a formal opening speech by our Huncon organiser, Unicron, who then promptly went on to his presentation about kitbashing and repainting!
Unicron and his creations in the background.
Unicron's kitbashes: G1 Inferno made from a junker and Micromaster Devastator's head, a throughly retrofitted Movie Megatron - Uni gave him red LEDs for his eyes and chest and a new painjob, Starscream (from a G2 Smokescreen and an AM Thundercracker head), Movie Jazz (just when he finished this one Hasbro released the G1 repaint... ), BW Grimlock (from BW Megs, new head and arm), Movie Barricade with new paint apps.
"It's REALLY over, Prime..."
I liked this one the best... Uni loves Jose Delbo's renderition of Powermaster Prime, so he made a new head (with ball joint) to replace the regular one!
The next presentation was by our esteemed Decepticon Leader, Megatron, about MISB and AFA collecting - and generally about what Transformers means to him.
He also brought some of his collection with him - here you can see him with an AFA-85 Brazilian Camaro (Windcharger's Brazil version)...
... and here is his AFA-85 MISB Classics Ironhide. Megs prefers the goldbox versions, as when we were kids these were the toys we saw (and most often couldn't afford) on the toy store shelves. (Sadly due to the Iron Curtain not many TFs were avaliable before 1988, only in so-called 'Dollar Stores'.
Apart from collecting only AFA-graded toys, Megs has also recently started collecting various TF memorabilia - most of which will be familiar to those of you who live in the UK... Party hats, T-shirts, roleplaying and coloring books, stickers, even soaps!
There were some pretty funny things in the activity books, so I took some photos of them:
Help Ravage who's stuck on a tree!

Megatron is TWICE as mean when disguised as a gun!

There was a short lunch-break then (due to saturday and most of the stores being closed it was in a Burger King) though some of the folks stayed in the room and watched parts from the Bayformers movie (:shudder:) as well as the ingenious 'Prime Time' videos.
We continued on with my presentation about the Marvel UK comics - I talked briefly about the origins of the comic, then went through the 'writers' (yes we know it's 99% Furman but don't forget 'Man of Iron' and 'Crisis of Command') and the various artists (showing examples of their work).
Then I went on to the 'fun facts' of Marvel UK, such as Letter Columns and Robocapers, and introduced the various Transformers, humans and cyborg freelance peace-keeping agents who were prominently starring in the UK comics. I also went through some of the stories, but the time constraints meant I only got to tell the summaries until #104.
Should anyone be interested, I have the powerpoint presentation uploaded at Rapidshare, though it's mostly images.
I also brought along my only Marvel UK comic - the 1987 Annual. Found it in an antiquary some years ago along with a Thundercat annual.
Afterwards, Darth Krande surpised us by preparing a Quiz, from the Second Season of the G1 cartoon!
There were some really tricky ones! For example, I never knew the Autobots were watching the Transformers Movie in a cartoon before it was even released! Ironhide and some other must have been quite pale after that event...
From left to right: Darth Krande, Shiroryu, Nekoazuma and Grimlock.
To - even my - surprise in the end I ended up with the most points and thus won the grand price - this excellent carving of Kremzeek done by Krande, painted in fluorescent paint so he glows in the dark! It's going to be a 'wandering trophy', meaning I'll write the quiz for the next Huncon (naturally from the comics) and whoever wins that gets Kremzeek and will do the quiz for the next Huncon.
Here you can also see the toys I brought for display - Choro-Q Megs, G1 Ravage in custom box, Italian Microman Scopeman, G1 Prowl eraser and a 'Penbot'.
And here are more toys for display - among others, Grimlock's Fortress 'Middlemus' KO, Nekoazuma's WST Dinobots and Starscream, and Krande's Movie OP wood carving...
...while Superion still struggles with transforming Alt. Shockblast. (OK, kidding, it didn't take THAT long...)
http://zozzy22.extra.hu/p1020479.jpg
And here you can witness the struggle of Gods!
Unicron trying to transform Primus...
Last but not least, there was some trading/selling too, but we had to wrap it up quickly as we had to leave the room until 19PM.
Megatron surprised us, and auctioned two of his very rare and highly sought after toys...
http://zozzy22.extra.hu/p1020536.jpg
The MIB unopened Phoenix (Takara Cloudburst) ended up in Caine's care...
... while the lucky winner of the MIB 100% complete G1 Jetfire was Grimlock!
I too bought a Jetfire - a Cybertron Jetfire, from Unicron and managed to sell a Blitzwing.
Well, that's most of it - though we have many photos, thanks to Nekoazuma, Zozzy and myself. We are still unsure when the next Huncon will be - it'd too long waiting for one more year, maybe we'll do a smaller meeting this year too.
So until next time!

Mmmm, that MIB Jetfire was a spectacular climax to your .jpg parade.
Looks like a lot of fun. Nice job on the quiz. I think I've got some Marvel UK comics if you'd like 'em.

Thanks!
Hmm, sure, could you PM me the list of the Marvel UKs you have and their price? I'm collecting G1/G2 toys first and foremost but I was always considering getting the whole Marvel UK at one point...
