I've got it.
I like it.
You should get it too.

Right... time for Diamond to ship to Bax... plus time for Diamond to forget to ship to Bax... plus time for Bax to post... plus the week spent in the Royal Mail... I should get it by Easter then. Yay.
Much as I like having it all paid for, and like giving Steve my business, I sometimes think it would be easier to just go to FP...

Got it. Read it.
******S-P-O-I-L-E-R-S******
I heard earlier today that Jimmy and Verity were going to die. Bit surprised at first. I figured Sixshot did it 'cause, you know, he's a stage 6 living weapon.
I got the comic. I enjoyed it all except for one thing: Jimmy and Verity's death. I don't mean the fact that they were killed, but the way they were killed. You have two characters who've been around since the first issue, and they're killed by Autobot stupidity? Sure, it's gonna make for an interesting personal conflict for Ratchet and Prime, but I'd prefer for them to die at the business end of a 'con gun barrel than from Ratchet getting his calculations wrong.
They should've killed a bot instead. Does anyone even give a damn about Hardhead?

I do.
The previews screamed death with him 'avin it large' with Sixshot in a panel or two, but he was the only one other then Prime that didn't get embarrassed.
I like the fact that we've got some clear muscle in the fold that lo and behold is acually in there on merit as a squad member, not just there for dramatic effect to get offed as soon as it kicks off. I like that we've got this guy who's a bit mouthy but actually has the clout to back it up, it again justifies him being there in the first place - I still look at Time Wars and just sigh at all the Autobots giving it the big "I am" then ****** blowing themselves up or getting f.u.b.a.r.

Best issue of Devestation to date.
Every once in a while, no matter what kind of TF fan you are, young or old, intellectual or ignoramus, king or pawn, you just gotta have a good slugfest. And this issue had it. The action certainly picks up with Sixshot vs. the Autobots, and Musso delivers the goods.
This issue is action-centered. Granted, the story doesn't necessarily leap forward, but if it fails to do this, there should be a good reason. And the good reason here is metal on metal action.
Whilst Musso does an excellent job rendering this battle, Simon does a good job explaining why its even possible for a single bot to carry such a reputation by delving into what Sixshot is actually made of. For those of us who wondered why Sixshot is the badass that he is, mystery solved.
It was still nice to see Prime hold his own. Still, seeing as how Sixshot barely "breaks a sweat", by issues end I finally see Sixshot as a realistic threat, a real force. Oh, and of all the artists that have pencilled Sixshot thus far (Ruffolo, Su, Roche), Musso IMO wins the prize in that regard.
Doubt Jimmy and Verity are dead....unfortunately. If they are, Simon man, you get all the props in the world for that move. Imagine the mental anguish Ratchet would suffer, and how that would affect him if they really are dead. Would certainly open up some doors for character progression, wouldn't it? Here's to hoping, anyway.
Negatives for me. Well, the Intergalactic Circus Show has officially arrived on Earth. I know I shouldn't prejudge based on appearances, but something tells me I'm not going to enjoy the part the Reapers have to play. Well, except their cool looking leader, maybe. Other than this and the lack of realism in Hunter's quick decision to irreversibly alter himself in a major way, I really can't find any other negatives.
Kudos to Musso on this. Like I said, the best of Devestation yet, a solid "A-", looking forward to more.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

i am going to pull a major skive off work today to get my mitts on this.
edit:
Think this was probably my fave issue of the ongoing (cough) so far, lots happening, lots at stake and some superb Optimus Prime characterisation (get everyone else out of here - i'm going to see if i can kill Sixshot just for the heck of it) plu sit basically seems to have teed things up for the last 2 issues to be all out carnage.
Oh, and Hardhead was brilliant, as was Sunstreaker.
Personally, while i would be kind of sorry to see them go, i hope Jimmy and Verity are dead. We have already had the 'not dead really' trick with Prime in Escalation and i'd rather not see it churned out again, plus actually having killed them would be a really bold piece of story telling.
My only real reservation is that Sixshot still didn't really live up to his billing - if he is so powerful surely his guns should more or less vaporise someone like BB? Id this guy a world killer or just quite hard? The former seems far more true than the latter based on what we have seen.
The art was good (altho i felt thed eath seen deserved a little more), but i must admit i am looking forward to EJ's return.

If they are really dead, I think that would be the biggest surprise I've had in comics since Bullseye got the living **** beat out of him by that American Eagle dude.Best First wrote:

I mean, not only would they be dead, they are all blue and corpse-like, and that would be beyond bold for Simon.
If its true, then that could be a good sign that Hasbro is getting less strict in what is allowed in a TF comic, which in my mind can only be a good thing.

I will be amazed if they stay dead to be honest. Im sure Ratchet will have some sort of survival trick up his sleeve before he gives up on them.
Great issue though. Enjoyed Musso's art more than I thought I would.
The bots looking for Ironhide is a bit lame though...if they cant locate him in the wrecks how about hanging around the crushy machine and let it find him for them!

Jimmy and Verity's 'death' was a good shock, though I'm hoping at least one of them survives (the comic doesn't really need 3 humans anymore).
As for the other guy, loved the convo between Hunter and Sunstreaker.
Devastation is shaping up to be my favourite TF miniseries on Earth from IDW.
Hope we see more of Musso in other books, but I'm also looking forward to having EJ back.
The letters page is a lot better under the new editor. Hated the way before they crammed loads of forum posts in complete with netspeak and mispellings. Plus MV got a letter printed - woo!

Read the issue yesterday, and it was quite choice. Well, there was the colouring... who seemed somewhat amateurish and over-the-top in places.
Wich is strange, since the previous issues were more or less fine..?
Musso was better than I expected, and performed rather well for a guy that's new at the job. Script was good fun, natch. Nothing more need be said about it.
So... now we wait another 4-5 months before the next mini? Sigh...
EDIT: No, no we don't. It says that this time, it's a 6-issue mini. Goodness.

I'm really enjoying this. Some decent development, a bloody great ruck and a couple of cliffhangers that really whet the appetite for what's coming next - tbh I have no idea how any of this will play out, and that's the best thing about this series. I'm not even sure whether J&V will stay dead, though if they do it'll be a fantastically bold move on Furman's part. Great stuff all round.

Hmmm... If they are dead dead then it's got to be the most pathetic death of all time. Given how much emphasis has been on these characters throughout the various -'ation's i'm going to be really dissapointed if they're killed off in a one panel accident/over sight... it wasn't even a good death... just kinda 'oops'...Metal Vendetta wrote:I'm not even sure whether J&V will stay dead, though if they do it'll be a fantastically bold move on Furman's part. Also, if all the Streaker clones are being run by channeling them through the original's brain, why not shut down the link? If the Machination's careless enough to build the equipment so that Hunter can effectively operate it on himself, you'd think they'd label a big red lever with a sign reading 'Do not pull' or something...

Thing is, Furman hasn't found anything interesting to do with them since Infiltration. This certainly counts as interesting, but...

I'm not entirely convinced it does count as interesting to be honest... it's just kinda 'd'oh... dead humans...'.spiderfrommars wrote:I have to agree.Legion wrote: Hmmm... Now, if they'd Sixshotted... that, at least would have been going out with a bang.
Right, finally read it. Can't really add much. Not a massive fan of the art, tbh, but that's secondary.
Don't believe for a moment that the stubbies are dead, but it would be teh good drama if they were, just for the "oh, woops" way it happened. Ratchet going to all that effort to keep them safe, then just ******* up by not thinking the teleport through.
Thought some of the dialogue clunked. Especially Starscream's. Bring on #5.
And somebody stop me from reading solicits and script wraps and crap that tells me what's going to happen. PLEASE.
