Academy Award night has officially ended for me.

It didn't get the BAFTA either. Guess they know something we don't.

I suppose it would still be way too much to hope for The Subtle Knife gets announced now...

I cant belive that, if read wwhat most folk speculate on cgtalk.com then Compass didnt deserve it at all.

Hell Pirates 3 has for more complex scenes buti guess it already got one?

IMO, Compass features the same sort of problems seen in Lord of the rings, only LotR made it look real...

Golden Compass was abysmal. But on a lighter note at least Juno didn't get Best Picture.

To be fair Compass had to do more varied stuff (animals, mechanics and CG environments) though TFs felt more groudbreaking.

Then again, we've had transforming cars in TV ads for years haven't we?

MEGATRON SMASH!!

Jesus christ... Well, I simply don't know what to say, other than that I think the giant fighting robots looked a lot better and more exciting than the fighting polar-bears.

Obviously I'm not the only one who thinks that there was some politics involved in this decision of the Academy's....

Let's see here:
TFs - in the spotlight for casting authority figures like military and police vehicles as villains.

PotC - in the spotlight for casting the pirates as heroes and the prominent maritime authority as the villains.

GC - in the spotlight for anti-Christian elements.

Guess they went with the lesser of three evils here...

I considered those elements to be largely played down in the movie compared with the novel, which is understandable I guess, but another good reason to blame Philip Pullman for selling out.

Has anyone seen Pullman and Carol Vorderman in the same place at the same time? Something to think about...

Anti-Christian or not, this was an award based on visual effects, not story.

A travesty. I really have no desire to watch the Oscars at all from here on out, because I never realized it was so blatantly political, and not something awarded on merit.

That's all I have to say.
