Density is technically more accurate than weight, but for this situation, the most correct term is probably buoyancy. Which is just comparative density with respect to the fluid medium.
The Autobots, being made of metal, have negative buoyancy, i.e. they naturally sink, and so they have to push against their own weight in order to come back to the surface, and then tread water in order to stay afloat.
