All seems quite legitimate. I think, as rebis observed, a quiet word to one of the admin asking if its ok to basically make a one-off ad/spam post would have been nice though:

Question should be, though, why should we bother? I mean, which one of us old-school TF fans DOESN'T have the G1 series yet on DVD? Even I have it and I'm not really a fan of the cartoon...

Used to have the first season on DVD but could never be bothered to pick up the rest. I did have them all on VHS at once point and one viewing of season 3 was quite enough to convince me I didn't need to see them again. Besides, they're currently repeated 6 times a day on the Pop and Pop+1 channels here in the UK for those of us with Sky

Yes, I can't say I hung on to said DVD for very long.
I can generally recall about 5 episodes which I can stand to sit through (Arrival from Cybertron, Megatron's Master Plan, Dinobot Island, Revenge of Bruticus, Return of Prime)- out of 90 eps I think? All 2-parters because the first part is usually ended on a cliffhanger which gives some semblance of drama to an otherwise pointless story (as I recall Dave summed up nicely). Even then they're pretty damn weak. Most of the eps are total dross, the only difference with the third series seemingly being that the animation got markedly worse.
Now Inspector Gadget, there's something I can sit through. Mainly because it's so utterly inane I'm unsure whether I'm watching TV or partway through a coma. Seriously, once an episode has finished it's like waking up after passing out- I can barely remember who I am or what I was doing for the last 30 minutes.

I'd love to be able to say Call of the Primitives because the animation is genuinely exquisite imo... but it's also the story that tells us how Unicron was built by a misshapen dwarf in his parents basement in between being an l33t hax00rzzz by using an opensource filesharing client on his linux box to download all of the subbed version of Inuyasha (dubs are for n000bz!) and playing Halo 3 online from his gamer chair (you know, the ones with the beverage holders?).
...Or perhaps I read too much into it...

I mostly liked the character-centered episodes, which let Bots and Cons who didn't get much spotlight in the Marvel comics shine. Some of my favourites:
-Golden Lagoon - a pretty good plot device, and also one that shows (in quite a shoehorned way, but nonetheless) the consequences of the Bot/Con war to Earth's nature (then again, "The greatest gift of all" did the same). Plus Beachcomber's starring in it, smoking weed.
-Starscream's Brigade/Revenge of Bruticus: Pretty much a two-part story, one of the few times continuity is maintained in the cartoon. And it's quite a good Bot/Con teamup against the common enemy. Plus Combaticons shining.
-Flight of Flee: A decent episode showing some elements bout what pre-war Cybertron could have been like.
-Megatron's Master plan, aka what happens if the "liberal media" (as Homer would say) starts to paint the Bots as evil and the Cons as good. With hilarious scenes of the casettes in a disco and Ravage stuck in a revolving door.
-Starscream's Ghost, for the huge cast (and kudos for the Battlechargers appearing) and the overall coolness of Starscream, after much-lacked development for the Cons in Season 3.
