TF G1 DVDs?

Post by gforce99 » Sat Jul 07, 2007 5:24 am

I am going to buy the G1 DVDs, but I heard the Rhino versions suck.

Should I wait for the new Sony ones?

Thanks

I'm with you. I have all the G1 eps (Rhino version), and would definitely buy them all over again. They tried to touch up some things, and did it incorrectly, but whatever. I'm glad I got them!

Why is it that the DVDs from Rhino are either unavailable or their priced from $70-$150 on Amazon or Ebay?

Where did you guys get yours?

I think the collector's editions are really expensive but they contain all the season 1, 2 (part 1 part 2) episodes. They also might not be in production anymore which is why the ones available are overpriced.

You can still buy select episodes on one DvD at a time, which are cheaper but you only get 5 episodes at a time. (I bought one for my friend for her bday and it wasn't too pricey)

Also, there's ebay. :wtf:
Could be some good deals, of course this was before the movie came out.

I have the Rhino versions because as mentioned earlier, they were the only ones at the time. I think they even left in all the original colouring and animation mistakes but yeah, they added in some sound effects, doesn't really bother me but I know people have complained about it.

Actually if watch the restoration comparisons on the rhino special features, they did a lot of touch up work. They of coarse did not fix everything, maybe 20 to 30% was all they touched. Considering the amount of flaws with the episodes, 20 to 30% is actually quite a lot. The Sony ones should be as close to perfect as they can get though, seeing how they now have lots of revenue to pay for the retouching project (Thanks to the movie). Lets hope they do as good a job on them as was done on the Voltron discs (Which are beautiful looking )

Anyone now how to get the japanese series? I have never seen them.

Also I believe the Rhino discs are now discontinued, now that Sony has the rights
