i get both the intent and the backlash bit (the suit being alive seemed to be implied by the shot of it in the tank and the way it encompassed him) - i just don't quite get where he got enough power to take on avery TF on Cybertron.
in terms of Marvel U analogies i'd be more inclined to go with Venom.

I get that.Best First wrote:in terms of Marvel U analogies i'd be more inclined to go with Venom.
I think it's more half-way between the two... as Thundy created the suit.
Where the power came from... unleashed extra potential within as a side-effect? Maybe it was the intent of the suit to give him that much boom.
Blatant "created a monster" analogue... let down by lack of detail. Maybe it'll be expanded on at a later point? We can hope.
Grrr. Argh.

Oh - forgot a point.
With the whole Venom, Parker and Brock get stronger because the symbiote has its own strength which enhances it.
With the Hulk... the serum only really enhances what Banner's already got.
Was sorta what I was driving at. "Why does TW take so much to defeat when he's only got these extra bits cobbled together?" is roughyl akin to "Why does the Hulk take so much to defeat when he's only really made out of what exists in Banner?"
By no means an explanation obviously... the main issue remains the same... just explaining where I was coming from on the Hulk analogue.

Only in the Ang Lee version.Best First wrote:maybe.
Was T-Dub messed with as a child?
Where he stops dead not because of the triteness of Prime's speech or the firepower, but because he had a flashback of his father and the emotional trauma made him stop with the killing.
After throwing a tank and jumping the Grand Canyon.

I figured that Prime's decision was because Prowl had notifed him of the Earth Infiltration Unit going into Siege Mode unexpectedly. Prime comments "I don't believe in coincidences".Best First wrote:i think... i think Shockers intended to seed multiple planets, but started with Earth, and got mugwumped by the Dino's - so earth is the only source.Brendocon wrote: Didn't quite get the Earth thing. Shockwave laced multiple planets? Therefore they need to go to Earth? Eh? Eh.
So, other planets may well be seeded, but they are not the immediate threat.
And, as Brend says, the implication is that the suit is 'organic'. I suppose this, and the invulnerability is a nod to the old Pretenders. If the organic material is capable of protecting the wearer from the hostile cosmic radiation, then it could afford proection from weapons as well, perhaps.

Well, we know that the part of point of synth skin is to shield from energon radiation (cf BW)... and that it's also to protect from harsh climate conditions (cf Spotlight #1)...Best First wrote:hmm, given that i am made of organic material... not entirely convinced on that one.
Maybe a byproduct is that it's resistant to the energy blasts produced by TF weaponry? Presuming that said weaponry is primarily energy based...

Wha..?Best First wrote: and, who exactly, are you implying does? same old ****...
I said "I", AS IN MYSELF, don't think this way.
Who was it is some movie that said "Presumption is the mother of all [composite word including 'f*ck']?"
I'm sure there must be fans who do think that way though.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Though I guess we're talking about synthesised organics, which is of course different... or not...
Some of which would prove immune to electromagnetic (i.e. energy) assault, some wouldn't.
Us humes being included in the latter category.

Somewhere Yaya is cackling.Best First wrote:I hateto say this (oh god do i) but its a rather Mickish approach to writing - he's powerful because he is
I must say, I really could have still bought the big attack without Prime's speech... a little too much pontification. I can see why Furms stayed away from Prime in Infiltration. But the art was SO good. Even better than Sunstorm, where it was the redeeming factor. Don has gone from simply being Mr. Pinup Man to getting darker and more moody, a la Senior.
The difference between the two in my view is, this story was flawed only in the climax. Sunstorm was hard-to-follow all the way through and the climax was weird.

Pretender shell = organic material = immune to energy weapons = invulnerability explained.
Awesome! Truth through science.
It's all very Terminator time transport, isn't it?
Now we just need to rationalise the energy supply...
Grrr. Argh.
Sorry, but this is killing me. What movie is this from, anyone remember?Yaya wrote: Who was it is some movie that said "Presumption is the mother of all fickups?"

So now Yaya is Commander Shockwave, but he really is MV in disguise?
I'm confused...
Back on Pretenders, the shell's organic nature makes it possible to do things unorganic material cannot, like regenerate, multiply, alter it's shape/form.
Just think why the Borg were so keen on being cybernetic AND organic at the same time, both have strenghts and weaknesses.
I wonder if we'll see the other big advantage of Pretender shells in the future, the fact that they can be remote-controlled, essentially doubling a soldier's firepower.
