Anybody else hear about this game? or see any of it? on You tube you can also find a cut seen involving ultra magnus, and 2 game playing sequences with megatron, starscream and soundwave.

Now, the voice acting is pretty terrible....but MAN, does this game ever look FUN to play!!!

gonna try and download a torrent of it, and put a mod chip in my PS@...just so I can play this.

It is a real game, because you can see the game play clips, and i also checked ebay.....it's on there!

Well, that's what I "heard" too

but you can see the gameply on you tube, and judge for your self.

I tihnk the fact that you get 53 transformers to choose from, that ALL look Spectacular, and you can use 3 at a time, means a lot of fun, even if it were a mediocre game.

Think of the Possiblilites

Be Starscream, and lead SkyWarp and Thundercracker
Be the Insecticons
Be Ultra Magnus with Springer and Arcee
Be Rodimus with Kup and Blurr
Wheel Jack, Jazz and Hound
Megatron Soundwave and Shockwave
Octane and ANYBODY

jsut the amount of fun you could have going through the different scenarios with the different combinations....I tihnk would lead to going therough the game several times.

ok that's a good point. but the fact that you have to fight like 5 Ironhide's at once is really weird.

good point, that raises the question of whether you'd rather face multiple random, generic bots, and not feel like you're really fighting the real autobots?

Or fight multiple charatcters that arn't in the game like ironhide, perceptor, sideswipe?

on one hand, it's not as realistic, but on the other hand, at least it puts guys like that in the game.

That was kind of what happened to the game that WAS released on the PS2 based on Armada: It was really cool, had great gameplay that was like Halo crossed with Ratchet and Clank. But aside from the character models and the ability to transform (which came in handy rarely), it could have been any old character back there.

I remember hearing about this game, but I didn't know there was a dubbed version.

I'm sure you have to fight the same robots of some sort all the time because A, it's a matter of processing power and B, they respawn, so there's going to be overlap.
But what's COMPLETLY unforgivable is the lack of repaints. How hard would it be to give me a few Sunstreakers mixed in with all those Sideswipes? Or a few Ratchets amongst the Ironhides? Ridiculous.

Basically, the gameplay looks a bit repetitve and blocky. Like Armored Core. lol. Totally badass that you can be the Deceps, though. Too bad it appears as though your party members can't transform. I wonder what Soundwave does. If he went tape and popped out some little cassette characters that went rowdy on your ass but had low life, that would be sweet. I would still buy this game if available simply based on the ability to play as G1 Transformers, even if the game may be not that great.

On one of the vids, I DID see Starscream transform as megs partner..yeah, Interesting question though....what Soundwave would DO transformed....on the video that show everybody transforming, he DOES transform into his cassett player mode.

Maybe he ejects Ratchet, Rumby and Ravage and they go and do some damage? can imagine what else they'd do with him

we only saw 2 short clips, maybe there are sunstreakers and rathcets on other levels? possibly cliffjumpers too?

And I DID see what looked to be a repainted ironhide...like Ironhide, just with more blue....
I already have a mod chip, I'd jsut have to put it IN my ps2, and If I could download this game off a torrent site (I actually found it on isohunt, hope it works!) So, I should be able to play it with out spending 40-50$ on ebay....

Pretty pumped

just for the record - you can't "see gameplay", games can look great and still play like dogs when you have your hands on the controller.

the Arnada game was pretty sweet, but i think a truly great TF game has yet to be made.

Imagine an online full out TF battle in a free roam environment...

whoa.....you just made me....Happy .....in the pants.

I'm thinking counterstrike?

Autos vs. decepts?

Or Bigger?

giant map, everybody picks a different transformer.
you gain strength/defence/special attack attributes.
Not just quick games, like counterstrike but Wars, like in warcraft, or starcraft.

Each user is a different Bot, each bot, very strong, huges maps, the strategy, the action, the drama, GET THIS FREAKING GAME PUBLISHED!

It honestly wouldnt be too hard with the right software and rendoring system. The trickiest part would be the transformation animation. But they could just use the "magical poof" we druids in WoW use and Id still be happy.

I took on another project over the summer and put it on hold, but I started work on it again this week...here's the latest screenshot:

http://emvee.goldenfanjita.com/images/rwlatest.jpg

The search function works now, but it's getting well complicated - if you're a Decepticon jet who's low on energon a barrel of petrol won't help you (you need to find aviation fuel, or a petrol/energon conversion unit) but it will do quite nicely for an Autobot car.

Cassettes now work - when you transform to casstte mode you disappear off the map so other TFs can't kill you, but you need to transform to "robot" mode in order to get anything done. You can get XP by "tagging" other TFs and reporting their location by interfacing with a communications officer (essentially, transforming into a cassette and jumping into someone's chest).

This week (I'm in Paris, but my hotel has broadband) I hope to add in minibots, triplechangers, jumpstarters, battlechargers, dinobots and all that, it shouldn't be too difficult as the basic gameplay is in place to accomodate multiple alt-modes, faster transformation etc.

Rebis also came up with a good system of allegiances (though I never replied and told him so) which I'm looking to implement, allowing the possibility of neutrals, defection and the like.

Then it's clones, spies, headmasters, targetmasters, pretenders, micromasters and the rest of the G1 brigade.

[edit] better-quality screenshot of Tracks hanging out in the UK here:

Ace job! :tfans:

Back to Tane: what you've sent us is the old PS2 G1 game, called Tatakai. It's been out but it only plays on a japanese modded PS2... and I certainly won't buy a PS2 for one game only.

It's sadly a no-brainer game, very hard to control and not really good at all. You can choose from a lot of characters, both Bot and Con... but... Special moves are mostly silly japanese-style combos and not what you'd expect. Also, transforming is not really effective as it takes Energon, and most of the modes are useless and hard to control.

Plus, since in Japan people had different favourite Bots and Cons, you can play as the four Headmasters or even two Monsterbots, but can't play as Grimlock or any of the dinobots...

Now, the good part of the game is the graphics... there are lots of transforming models that are playable, and lots of non-transforming opponents, including Gestalts and even Cons like Trypticon!

Frankly, I'd give my left gun-arm to get these models somehow... I've been working on a Transformers mod for Age Of Wonders 2 (a turn-based strategy game following in the footsteps of Master of Magic and Master of Orion). AOW2 has such a through editor, it even lets you import graphics... and that's the only thing I'd need for the mod, pixelated graphics of the TFs... if I could even view the PS2 game on PC somehow and take screenshots, even that'd be useful. But sadly, I haven't found a PS2 emulator so far that could run the game (which I already have gotten ahold of)

If any of you're interested in how some of the Bots/Cons looked like in the PS2 game, a guy from Seibertron once took screenshots for me about the playable chars and some of the enemies, I can post them.

its a shame - because each of the models, and transformations are incredibly faithfull to the orginal G1 models.

an MMO based on cybertraon where u create your own character ala some magic tool set like city of heroes... all is good.

So seriously, though, we couldn't accomplish that?

I swear, we've got the most computer geek power of any tf site out there. If we could make something like that, we'd go down as legends and possibly millionaires.

In all honesty I think the best, and most liekly approach to this would be to mod an existing engine - somthing like the Half-Life 2 engine would work best as it already caters for multi-player across the internet.

But then your left with modding the game away from the FPS that HL2 is...

Some people have already started a TF mod for some 3D shoot-em-up tactical game, if I'd care for such games I could tell you the title.

Hardest part is making 3D models for them, thus starts our problems... and there are tons of 3D modellers amongst the fans, yet no-one yet made any attempts to unite them to work for a common goal,a working TF game...

well - Thats my job, ive moddeled alot of TF in my time - but the problem is, making a model doesnt actually mean anything, making them for a game, and more importantly a game engine is a completely different thing.

U need an engine first as this constrains everything u can build.

Just found this - apparently someone did what I asked and uploaded a video of the PS2 Game character selection on Youtube! 8) It's far from complete, mind you... there are still some chars left to unlock and it shows only the Con enemy models. But all in all, I really like it, even if the transformations are quite unfeasible... just like in the Marvel/Sunbow era.

Also from the Tatakai game: Ultra Magnus' entrance!

Awesome job guys, I REALLY wish I had any technical skills in which I could help everybody out here. But yeah, that Character reference screen was either the one I origianlly posted, or made by the same guy (forget which one I posted) Was just about to post it when you were asking for screeenshots.

Man, if you guys coulld come together, there's no reason a kick as G1 game can't be made.

Metal Vendetta, the Game you're working on looks absolutely tits, and I think it's going to come out to be awesome!

the only problem we face is finding a coder who can program a 3d engine for an X360 or PS3 - then they would only need know how of a multi-core system/cell chip.

Not to mention a 3D animation expert...
