So what the [composite word including 'f*ck'] does "Rodimus" mean? Huh? For all you Theory/Fan Ficky types.
Optimus=Best
Rodimus=Best rod?
Yeah, I know what I said...

Well, from what I remember of my school Latin days, the suffix ~imus referred to the superlative form of an adjective (e.g. Magnus means large/great, while Maximus means largest/greatest), so based on that,
Optimus - Best (as in Most Good)
Rodimus - Most Roddy?
Ultra Magnus - the t-shirt size for tfs.

In a glorious bit of retconning I once decided that his proper "given" name on Cybertron was Rodimus, but being a turbo-revvin' young punk he insisted that everyone call him Hot Rod, as that was his cool nickname. Upon getting the Matrix he became Rodimus Prime, but later in the Wreckers comics as a "Matrix Templar" or whatever he's back to being just plain Rodimus.
It's tenuous, but I think it works.

I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Ah, that's interesting... am sure i read that somewhere years ago... GrimGrams maybe?Rebis wrote:Nope.Legion wrote:Doesn't that (loosely) translate as Beyond Great?spiderfrommars wrote:Ultra Magnus
Excel/Excellent/Excelsis/Excelsior = Beyond
Ultra = Very
anyway, that made me do a bit of research...
Magnus = large, great, important
Ulta = Very
so we have "Very Large" or "Very Important"... nice.

its shame we can't text search Grim Grams.
Re: Rodimus?
Aside from its 'meaning', it just sound stupid and poor to my ears.man-with-the-dogs wrote:So what the **** does "Rodimus" mean? Huh?
Unless you happen to be a slightly overweight human with a penchant for wearing Timmy Mallett/Elton John oversized goggles.Stormwolf wrote:I like his name, Omega usually applies to "the end" or in some cases death.spiderfrommars wrote:As is Omega Supreme... sounds like an ice cream or pizza.
He is the supreme end to all that stand in his way.
