Need help! What Transformers Series/Episode/Movie is this?

Hey you all!

This might sounds a little weird, but here goes.
When I was a lot younger, about 15-18 years ago, I got some sort of Transformers video on VHS. I still remember it vaguely, and would really want to watch it again.. but ofcourse it's forever lost. I'm so lost in the Transformers universe and I have no idea what Episode or Movie or whatever it was (always thought it was a movie, but really can't remember). If anyone could help me it would be awesome.. I can't remember much at all, and this probably is a long shot, but I will give it a go.

What I remember:

In the start I remember an red autobot that could transform into a red sports car (still can't find out who this was). He flies away from some battle in space, and ends up in trouble alone on some weird planet or place.. in some kind of machine.. but he makes it out of there.

I can remember Autobots entering Hyperspace in some big ship.

I can remember Autobots building a base or something in the Desert. I think there was a black and grey Decepticon spying on them, he could transform into a Jet or Fighter Plane. There was a fight in the Desert, and this Black/Grey guy crashes.

In the end I can remember some big battle in space, with some big canon or spacecraft shooting a lot of laser beams hehe.

Damn, I couldn't remember much hehe.. Maybe I will think of more later.

Sounds a lot like Transformers the Movie.

You should be able to find it in several versions, both in stores, and.. otherwise.

Actually I watched some of Transformers the Movie, but I didn't recognize it. I always thought it was Transformers the Movie that I had seen, so it really annoyed me when it wasn't. I could be wrong tho, I will have to check it some again. Thanks.

No prob. The red sportscar sounds a lot like Hot Rod. And the crash on a different planet happens for him in the movie, likewise the big battle in the end against the gigantic Unicron.

I dont think its the movie it sounds more like a cartoon episode. which leaves 3 series to narrow it down to...

Apart from the part where Hot Rod is orange and yellow, not red, and where it sounds absolutely nothing like the movie.

Description actually rings a bell... I'm tempted to say face of the Nijika or the God Gambit or something... can't be certain.

Red sports cars... either Sideswipe or Cliffjumper, really. At a push Smokescreen...

Hey all, and thanks for your answers!

I watched the movie, and I can for sure say that's not the one I watched when I was young. I also checked out Hot Rod, and I don't think that's the red transformer I remember. Thanks anyway

I will check out the episodes you mentioned more, and take a look at Sideswipe, Cliffjumper and Smokescreen to see if I recognize them.

It might very well be that I have jumbled a few episodes together

Could have been one of those VHSs with 3 episodes or something.

I will continue my search!

I'm starting to remember that this supposedly red car transformer gets hurt, and someone flies him to this other place and places him in some sort of machine-energy thing, and then he wakes up and flies out full with new power or something... anything that rings a bell?

My memory about all this isn't really great.. so take it for what it is hehe.
This red car transformer might be orange or something else.. migth even be something else than a car.. but that's what I remember

Hmm, i thought maybe it could be "More than Meets the Eye" (also known as "Arrival from Cyberton" i beleive) it was the very first story of the cartoon and spanned three episodes - the "big ship" could be the Ark... the "red sportscar" could be cliffjumper (when he and hound go into the desert to spy on the Cons). The black/grey guy could possibly be laserbeak who chases them off...
There's a fight aboard the new 'Con ship at the end too... seems to loosely fit... ?

I watched the 3 "More than Meets the Eye" episodes earlier today and that wasn't what I remembered either.

The red car I remember really looks like Sideswipe, but in non-car mode I don't really recognize him.

I'm starting to wonder if I may have watched some other show that ripped everything from Transformers.. or if my mother put something weird in my food

Are you sure it's not Gobots?

Hmmmm.....sounds like a spacebridge episode maybe. That would be season one or two. Sheesh, this description has elements from a dozen different episodes. It will take some thought

Though on a serious note, if he's misremembering Powerglide as a red car rather than a red plane and the big shooty thing in space was a in fact the big shooty thing in the air then it might well be...
