Yeah, John Rauchs somewhat inconsistent colours have been mentioned before, but this was really one of the first times I've seen the inking goofing around a bit. :o

Altho some of the environment-shots looked suspicous to me in #3.

Err, Denyer, Paul, can we please let the other subject die? :bf:

ah, well in that case, there being a similar post i hadn''t noticed previously, how terribly wrong of me to try and address the point in this thread and how inconcievable of me to dare to suggest you do something differently.

i'll make sure i read every post on the board before ever daring to suggest a change in behaviour ever again, after all anything else would be unreasonable.

Enjoyed the issue, mainly the second half. Megatron killing his own troops (nice surprise - the 'cons have seemed pretty indestructible so far, but are no match for Megs) is more exciting than the humans escaping a cave in.

How can anyone compare it to DW's G1? Furman is an old pro when it comes to constructing an arc: here we have a mystery slowly unravelling whilst Mick just piled mystery upon mystery.

Quick question: do we think Megs ignored Verity or just didn't see her?

i think it was supposed to illustarte how beneath him he sees the indiginous population as

- she's not a threat
- she's not of interest
- she's not on his agenda

i think disregarding her adds far more of a sense of menace to be honest, the power lies in the fact that he could easily obliterate her but doesn't bother as she is nothing to him. Its also suggests he acts only when he has to rather than being some tinpoy bad guy who kills for the hell of it.

In terms of pacing, i agree that its a shame that more has not happened in this mini (or ceryainly doesn't look like getting wrapped up with one issue left) however i have enjoyed each issue and found little wrong with the story itself, thoroughly enjoyed the characterisation (the above being a good example) and in most cases loved the art work (although i agree thi wasn't the best issue on that front). Also i get a strong sense taht this story has a clear sense of direction and that the editorial team has the resolve to see that through and trist in the long term vision of their (correctly chosen IMO) creative staff making allowances for opinion when it makes sense rather than when the boss was told it was a good idea by a stripper in a Deceptiocon thong the night before. I wouldn't say any of those things about the Sunstorm saga which was, IMO, a fanwanky mess that included such childish indulgences as Transformers doing wrestling moves for Christ's sake.

as an aisde - in terms of pace - to be honest i think one of the things that always catches me unaware is the way IDW put a load of none 'core story' pages at the back of each issues so as i am flipping through, and i feel a thick wedge of pages still to go in my right hand i am always a bit surpised when i get to the end of the story on the next page.

actually i just notied King Mob wrote a far beter post on all of this. ah well.

Great, thats exactly what I thought. She's nothing more than an ant to him. Utterly beneath his notice.

its a good example of 'show don't tell' - and as much as this series has been dialouge/narration lite i can't help but feel that its more effective than just having a caption saying something along the lines of "Megatron, really scary" and less panalage.

i love the way Megs just fragged SW and BW, it makes it feel like all bets are off (which considering the vast cast that is there to be mined makes sense to me).

Hopefully there will be some dull TFTM references next issue though.

I thought it was more like a mouse running in the room while you're working - you see it, you go, "oh, a mouse," and you carry on working. It's a great look on his face as well.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

If I see an ant I won't go out of my way to squash it.

If I see a mouse I call the Exterminators. ;)

Eh, if I see a mouse (they do come through our house occasionally) I'm like "oh, it's a mouse" and go back to what I'm doing. In fact, just like Megatron did. Mouse analogy just works best for me, I suppose. I wouldn't even register an ant on the floor, but I'd spot a mouse. I could even strike up a relationship with a mouse (I've kept one as a pet before) much like Megs could with Verity - she's a smaller, less "perfect" verion of himself, just as I would see a mouse as a more "primitive" kind of mammal. Not an immediate threat, but if they multiply it might be time to do something about them.

tbh when I heard that Verity would be getting a "one-on-one" with Megs, I imagined it would be the hackneyed "Ah, so Prime values these flesh-creatures, I'll take this one hostage" type of deal. The reality was far more satisfying.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

someone over at IDW has suggested the possibility of Megs killing Starscream given his behaviour in this issue.

i relish this possibility...

If Furman has the balls to let Megs just off Screamer in the final issue, I'll kiss him.

I would kiss him anyway, but now it'll be, you know... with tongue.

Despite what I said, I still love EJ Su with a great love. Not quite tongue-kissing love, but close. The page of Megs and Verity is my fave piece of comic art I've seen in years.

Absobloodylutley!! That page is genius. EJ and Simon have conveyed tonnes of detail about this Megatron's personality and MO in those few panels without any dialogue. Fantastic.

I also love the fact that he's working alone, rather than in the company of a few loyal henchmen, or something. Makes him even more menacing, and suggests that the Decepticons are not a very cohesive bunch......only held together by Megatrons force of will. :D
