"A Storm Is Coming..." *Stormbringer spoilers ahoy

Post by sprunkner » Sat Apr 15, 2006 8:05 pm

I figured it would be good to have a topic on IDW's upcoming "Stormbringer" event where we could share some news & rumors. So, everyone knows by now that Figueroa will be the artist and Cybertron will be involved. Anything else? Speculation? Unicron dances in the rain in a tutu? (unwilling to look for more info as I am supposed to be working on finals)

Basically, they grow a new Ripley to get a new breed of alien and it ends up making out with her before going all squuuuuuuuuuish through a window. And Winona Ryder is a robot.

It's missable. Still better than Revenge of the Sith, though.
Grrr. Argh.

Its a TF crossover with the Xmen. Or one X-man at least. Or should that be X-woman?

Wov... Thunderwing as an insane tormented Cons scientist, that's certainly new. I wonder what he discovered? Pretender tech? Access to the Matrix?

Plus... War Within modes... Optimus, Megatron, aaand... THE WRECKERS! (hopefully staying longer then on TWW DA)! What more can one ask?

Shockwave... pleeeese :D

It's the return of the War Within -forms! :) Looking good, but then, who actually thought it wouldn't with an artist like Don?

Seems as if there's quite a few possibilities here, could be quite interesting.

Don'tcha just love the way people always use padding prior to the spoilers, but never use padding after.

Not having a go at you, BB, just making a general obsevration.

Spoiler space is rather redundant in forums anyway, what with everyone having different-sized screens...

Hopefully the flames are for show rather than genuine mystical claptrap.

I think the problem with using Impy is that he'd be such a good character he would draw the focus away from the main toyline characters, something presumably Hasbro would be keen to avoid. If he does appear, I'd bet any money he won't survive the series.

Yeah but they're so that the audience can relate to the characters and provide a human perspective on the war. Who's going to be interested in a story from Impactor's perspective?

The generation of fans who grew up worshipping the character?

And that problem would exist in any story devoid of humans. If they're there to be identified with, you take them away and the "lack of anybody to identify with" issue's gonna be the same regardless of which giant metal robot is in the middle of it.

Not really saying anything should be told from the Impster's perspective. Just that "detracting from the other characters" isn't really a legit reason to omit him. Because that can be said of any non-toy character.

Hasbro seemingly had no problem with his inclusion back when there were toys of the other characters to be detracted from... can't personally see it being a major stumbling block now.

Brend speaketh the trutheth.

yeth.

To be honest my main issue with Imapctor is actually Springer, in the original Merval UK run he was aleays a pretty crappy leader and stood well in IMpy's shadow, if he was developed to have a bit more swash and buckle, whihc i suppose he was to some extent in WW, then i woul;dn't miss impy so much. Also a grit injection is required, Springer always seemd a bit light for someone who essentially led a commando squad, at least he did down teh line, his first intoduction, along with SS and BS was smashing, but he seemed a bit wimpy and indecisive at several points after that.

IMO.

Sorry should have pointed out my last post contained heavy doses of sarcasm and devil's advocacy...of course I want to see Impactor back in Transformers. I just doubt it will ever happen.

On a side not I for one would like to see more of old Impy for obvious reasons.

I think alot of Impys story is largely untold, id really like to see hwo the group interacts as a whole, Roadbuster, whirl and Impy for example - perhaps a bit more on Rack N Ruin too.

More Whirl characterisation would be most welcome.

All he got in Marvel was a couple of issues in Target:2006, one shot of possibly his feet (but thinking about it, more likely to be Sandstorm's) in Distant Thunder, and a panel or two in Peace.

But from that, IMO, he came across as a battle-hardened vet, and at the same time like a more even-tempered version of Impactor.

Was he ever in DW?
