Beast Wars Issue 3

Read it.
Have to say that despite me not knowing much about Beast Wars history, I have enjoyed this series thus far, particularly Don's pencilling.
Despite the complex nature of the physical forms of most of these characters, and the fact that there are so many of them, Don has managed to unclutter what most certainly would have been an outright mess in the hands of most past pencilers of TF lore.
The story, which is, let's face it, quite mediocre, is delivered superbly to us by Don's magic. Not to say Simon's story is bad, but its one of those tales that really gets a huge boost from the artwork, making reading this series worthwhile.
I give this issue a "B", my favorite Beast Wars issue to date and looking forward to more. I might even say I have enjoyed this series more than the Infiltration flagship title, but I will withold judgement until completion of both series.

"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

Mediocre? Please... when did we have such a cool time-travel/covert agent/old chars retruning saga last time? About 20 years ago?Yaya wrote: The story, which is, let's face it, quite mediocre, is delivered superbly to us by Don's magic. I've read it, and I enjoyed it. It was class. The art team on this book is just as solid as ever, truly impressive lads, and the story is escalating nicely, with the very fast duel between the despots. Methinks the real throwdown will come in next issue tho. (duh! last issue and all) ^^
The last page is a very welcome turn of events. Too bad he'll only be kicking ass and taking names for the last issue tho.

Meh, I'm a total whore for stuff with him in it and I don't mind. Too overpowering a character to be in more of the issues, considering what this mini is trying to do and how busy it already is.Predabot wrote:Too bad he'll only be kicking ass and taking names for the last issue tho.
I don't find the story mediocre either, but in a poor artist's hands, yes, I think it'd become a slog to read, instead of the blazingly fast and fun read it is at present. It's really great seeing certain characters illustrated by this book's art team.

really enjoyed it, although it felt a bit shorter than the last two, can't say i had any real issuew ith the dialouge.
The Megs stuff was pretty unexpected and thsu enjoyable.
sadly the mutants interlude, whilst fun, can't really be viewed as anything other than padding.
Also, given his sinister form and the heritage of his name i would have liked to see a darker characterisation for Scourge. That a personal pref though.
My only issue with Grimlock is how massivley this has been flagged as a plotline - would have been much cooler if i didn't know it was coming. I hope he ****s a few people up.
Interesting to see mags described as a 'decorated general'.
i think the storyline's pretty sharp overall myself - well woven into continuity with very strong characterisation of the key players.
