DD GI Joe vs. TF V3 #1

Over the last 25 years the Transformers have appeared in media from the exquisite to the scribbled and been licensed to the responsible and the... Pat Lee. Discussion of all the branches of TF media within!

DD GI Joe vs. TF V3 #1

Post by Metal Vendetta » Thu Mar 09, 2006 3:23 pm

So it's finally out, and like a bitch I crumbled and bought it.

Yunno what? It's actually quite good. I don't have any major gripes with this issue at all. The plot seems straightforward, the characters are accurate and consistent, it's well-drawn and (especially compared to Infiltration #3) well-inked and coloured. While I'm not entirely sold on the Quints origin, Perceptor at least namechecks Primus and there's a totally bizarre and as yet unexplained BW cameo towards the end which could be interesting if developed further.

Dammit, I'm going to have to recommend this now.

DD GI Joe vs. TF V3 #1: not nearly as bad as V2! At least, not yet :)
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

Not sure what possessed me to buy this, but I did anyway.....

And loved it!

For the first time ever, I can honestly say an issue of this redundant crossover was worth reading.

Art was fantastic, and I actually found the story to be intriguing.

Some things were cheesy, of course, and because its a TF/G.I.Joe crossover, there had to be a scene with Bumblebee getting the crap knocked out of him. There's even a line in there where Cobra Commander says "Of all the Autobots, I hate that little yellow one the most!" Awesome. I wish someone would make a collage of all the scenes from these crossovers with Bumblebee biting it. Anybody want to do this for me?

Despite moments of uber cheesiness, really enjoyed this issue. And it was a long read! Much longer than most TF comics of late.

I give it a "A-". Definitely a pleasant surprise.

The art is great. Ng's best ever and the best yet seen in a DD crossover.

The story is fun enough to hold the attention too.

If this isn't one of the most kickass pieces of TF art I have ever seen, I don't know what is! (Its from #4 of GiJoe/TF)

Not sure what the eternal whining of the Pat Lee-shortpacked has to do with that kick-ass Predaking? Are you insinuating that because it does contains a few traces of the DW-style, aka some cracks and rust and such, that it looks horrid in your eyes? :???:

Btw... if that cover is any sort of hint to the insides of the comic-issue... Man, G.I Joe are so DEAD!

except theyw on't be - possibly the essential flaw with any GI Joe Tf crossover being that GI Joe and Cobra should all f'n die in the first five minutes.

Nope. Try reading.

Full on squat, the waist's at 90 degrees, the front arm/leg have ludicrously flattened perspective, and as for what's happening with that twisted back leg... Predaking's chest is almost at 180 degrees to his right kneecap.

Sorry - I'm with Denyer.

The colouring is impressive, but the poses are more ridiculous than those found in an M&S catalogue. Are we supposed to believe these guys are fighting? That sniper bloke on the bottom right is, a) looking the wrong way, b) waving his gun around uselessly, and c) trying to look cool while the very earth beneath him rises.

Meanwhile, Predaking is having a karate kid moment.
