Hi all!
I'm having a quite heated discussion with a fellow hungarian transfan on our board, who resents the idea of the TWW alt modes we saw in IDW's new comic. He also doesn't accept what the Ultimate Guide says about Primal and Megs having alt modes on Cybertron.
Just wondering, was there ever an interview with BW's creators where they adressed this?

To be fair, we didn't see any Cybertronian alt modes in The Gathering, just pre-beast robot modes.
And the notion that Primal or Megatron would have have non robot forms on Cybertron is silly. Everybody knows that. I mean what's the point of them transforming on their homeworld, eh? Eh? Oh.

Grrr. Argh.

Holley Moooleey....!
Get this... he actually -at least he claims it, but I for one believe him - wrote a letter to Bob Forward and asked him! You can find Forward's reply here:

It's settled! Not like very many had any doubts about it anyways... Seems like the post-war life was indeed enriched by transformations.Reply from Bob Forward wrote: "When we did the show, we did not think they originally would have had
alt-modes. The idea of the alt-modes was they were "robots in
disguise" -- something not needed on Cybertron, esp. with no war going
on.
However, we never stated this and quite frankly, we often had to
change our own rules at Hasbro's whim. So when the comic book
suggested they did have alt-modes, as part of their "day jobs"
(construction machinery, etc.,) I really had no problem with it."
Cheers for the linkage BB Shockwave.
I wrote to Pat Lee once, asking if he was ever going to pay any of the contributers to Dreamwave.
I got the following reply:

Still doesn't hold water for me...Razorbot might be a cheesy name, but I think it would have worked.
Oh, I found Spinator out...

You get Waspinator from Spinator, maybe you get Razorbeast from Razorblast. Sounds like a car with knives in the hood, built around a gun.Metal Vendetta wrote:I did some pics of Waspinator as a helicopter called Spinator - that's one thing that bugs me about The Gathering, actually. Why is Razorbeast called Razorbeast on Cybertron? He's not a beast...
And with the Botcon exclusives out we can easily have Dinobot-Diggerbot, Rattrap-Roadtrap, Cheetor-Speedor.

Yep - besides in the first episodes of BW they do seem to be choosing their names. Maybe that's a custom... after all, I hardly think Jazz was called Jazz on Cybertron, he got that name on Earth. (or is jazz universal?)
